Z4M Coupe or Roadster? How to choose?

Hey everyone,

As I am in the market for a z4m, I was wondering how y'all decided on a coupe or roadster. At this moment, I am leaning toward a roadster just because of the ability to have the top down. On the other hand, the coupe to me looks more agressive from the rear. So my question is, when it came down to pony up, how did you decide?

Thanks,

Chris

I think it's all personal preference. For me since I live in sunny California I decided to go with the roadster.

i drove both and loved them both to be honest..... i went for the roadster as i was looking for a weekend car to take out the garage and enjoy, its a proper roadster, designed from the off as just that, everything about it is imo fabulous, its going to be a very difficult car to replace, throw on some sensible mods #@ahemm@# ive got a car that is about as mad as can be.....

I can fit my road bike in the hatch of my Coupe (even with the battery bulge). Also, I park outside and didn't think a ragtop would do well under those conditions. Finally, every time I see my car my heart skips a beat; I just didn't get that from the roadster.

I bought a roadster first but it only took me about 2-3 months to figure out I should have bought a coupe. I do most of my driving on expressways and to enjoy the top-down aspect of the car, you can't be going 70mph--especially if you want to listen to the radio or receive a call on your phone. I bought the coupe shortly thereafter and have had no regrets. The roadster I had was a 3.0si and I do miss those wheels on the sport package thought. Nice..........

Pull over if you need to take a phone call. And my stereo is plenty loud when going 70 on the turnpike.

Top down or go home. Oh, and the exhaust sounds so much better too.

Never said I listened to it, I just said it's plenty loud.

My custom exhaust is my music.

to me a ragtop was never an option. A tin top convertible however is very attractive. Just cant live with the fact that a ragtop looks like a camping tent. Add to that how much better looking the coupe really is and you dont have that much of a choice.
That being said, if I lived in CA, I think I wouldve gotten the roadster simply because the top would never be up to see the rag!

Now I think that the roadster looks great, top up or down. In fact, a kid in a car next to me exclaimed to his little brother "hey look at the really cool car" as I drove by top up on Monday; and another guy did a double take this morning as I drove to work with the roof up.

All this to say, buy the car that YOU like the best. And don't feel that you have to be in California or Florida to enjoy a roadster. I am in Canada (and not in the warmest part of it by far, let me tell you) and I love my roadster.

That's right - it drowns out the exhaust note!

For some it's an easy choice but there are definitely + & - for each car.

For me I bought the M roady, mainly because I never had one & always wanted one.
Once that was out of my system I bought the M Coupe & have no desire to have a roadster again.

all personal preference. Even if you're sure you'll enjoy top-down driving 3 months out of the year, its worth it. Nothing beats driving topless on a summer evening. The engine/exhaust sounds much better with the top down too. I'm not going back to the boring closed roof again

Roadster because...

1) There is a hardtop option for winter.
2) If I was worried about luggage space, I'd buy a sedan or suv.
3) Nothing beats top down driving.

Once I went with my first roadster (a miata) years ago I've never gone back. The feel of the open road does it for me. The wind, air, speed and the sound of my exhaust are my preferred therapy!

If I want a top, I use my RR Sport

Some places won't let you do a HPDE unless you have a rollbar; no exceptions. I thought the coupes looked much more exotic.

I can't argue about the great looks of the coupe - it is stunning without a doubt. In fact, perhaps it does look better than the roadster.

But that is like saying Miss July (the coupe) is hotter than Miss August (the roadster). Okay - they both look amazing. But consider; Miss August will go topless!

Well. If you like Pina Coladas and dancing in the rain, then get a roadster.
If you don’t then get a coupe. Pretty simple.

Coupe looks amazing but I really want the roadster for driving around Malibu.
