ESS TS2+ kit question. . .

Ok i have the TS2 kit with headers already and I know its reliable enough. I'm not a track event goer, just a DD with some extra grunt. My concern about the TS2+ kit with the cams, pulley and tweeked ecu are my internals. I do not want to have to replace any internals (untill way down the road) if I do not absolutely have to. Are the M54 internals forged from the factory or no? Anyone have the TS2+ kit and could advise me on this?

The kits says

Boost pressure: 8.5 PSI
Horsepower: 375 SAE/380 DIN
Torque: 342 lb-ft/465 Nm

I've been with 4 cylinders my whole life and are new to BMW's so I'm just being cautious.

Thanks!

Are you sure it's really a TS2 kit and not just the pulley mod? I dynoed at 323 whp (~380 at the crank) and all I've got is a TS1 and a smaller pulley.

Do you have an intercooler already?

I know the crank is forged.

I did get the pulley info on that, b/c i was under the impression you HAD to have the cams to get the pulleys. Maybe just me being, misunderstood, I do not know.

So I do not need to get the cams just yet if I get the smaller pulley upgrade? Also no i do not have an intercooler yet, didn't think you needed one seeing how there is Lamnova coolers in the intake mani?

Lamnova coolers are an intercooling system. That's what I was talking about. I don't know about for TS2, but for a TS1 kit, I did not need cams or headers to get the smaller pulley. If you don't have the Lamnova coolers, you do NOT have a TS2.

I wasnt there for the install b/c I'm deployed but there was a water pump install in the bumper going ot the intake mani so I'm assuming there are coolers there b/c I did pay for the TS2 from VACmotorsports

Here is some pics; the pump is behind the plastic piece on the right

Yep, that looks like a TS2. I've only seen one car on here with a TS2+ set up and he was making 430 or 440hp at the crank. I'm seriously considering the upgrade myself (I'd have to go TS1-> TS2+ because it doesn't make much sense to go back to the larger pulley). My only concern is the ballooning costs if I want to do headers and cams as well.

cams are a very expensive upgrade for the amount of power they add. I'd make it a last mod. You can pick up the same 20hp with a $500 meth/water kit

I'm a noob when it comes to water/meth and how it works, why you would want it and so on. I dont intend or want to track or autocross the car as it is my DD

Also Tarheel91, get a hold of CJ @ VACmotorsports about the headers, they were the cheapest headers I've come across and look good to coated!

Well shit i have another question about the kits

The TS2 kit uses a lysholm 1600AX Supercharger that has a displacement of 1.6L, aside
from being bigger and making more power, would there be an advantage in upgrading to the 2300AX with a displacement of 2.3L in the future? The M54 I6 has a 3.0L displacement, so the 1600 has to spin 1.875 times vs the 2300 spinning .766~ times?

Just a few thoughts!

This is the main consideration. Supercharger efficiency is dependent on pressure ratio and air flow. The most efficient amount of air flow is going to be different depending on the supercharger used.

Here's the 1600: http://www.lysholm.us/pdf/diagram_lys1600ax.pdf
