so who has deleted their header + sec1 cats?
quick glance at my setup so you get an idea:
fabspeed headers oem section 1 rogue engineering x-pipe arqray cans who here has deleted their header cats plus section 1 cat? if that's done is there anyway we can still be emissions compliant and not throw codes? i live in PA so i don't think it's going to be as tough as those out in Cali. my first exhaust mod was the arqray cans and i love how it deepened the sound a bit. it's one of the quietest exhausts made for our cars IMO, but it really tames and cleans the note when doing additional exhaust modifications. my second exhaust mod was the x-pipe...but then i wanted more - which resulted in the fabspeed headers. now i want more i can't help it. my exhaust note is a decent work in progress, and that's saying something considering the s54 is not known to give off the most pleasing exhaust note when modified. anyways...advice here? i'm a noob to what happens after the section1 cat delete. i'd imagine even more rasp, which i'd try to counter with some ar20 resonators or something...but i want that cat out! here's how it sounds at the moment. no drone btw and silent idle when it warms up. it screams like a bat out of hell when you're up in the rev range though. my friend is driving throughout this clip. i wanted to film and hear it from the street. he said he was terrified and kept letting off...but you get the idea.

I have full catless Supersprint exhaust. V1 stepped headers, vbanded catted section one/test pipe, x pipe, race cans. It's loud and drones but I like it and my car sees a lot of track time but I do drive it on the street... though it's a bit too loud for street driving in my opinion.
My car has epic tune and I have a street tune(emissions friendly) and a race tune that is remotely tuned for my setup and deletes the rear o2 sensors. I don't think I will pass NYS emissions with the rear 02 sensors removed but I pass inspection with the secondary cat installed. Removing the car increased the overall loudness of my car, added a bunch more "snap, crackle, pop" ESP during shifts and throttle release, but it also increased drone under 3k RPM's. Above this range the car is quiet at cruising speeds if throttle is maintained...but like you said the car just screams under full load and sounds lovely. |

Man I miss the roads of PA/MD/VA. That first shot looks like heaven. Nothing like that down here in Tejas. I am currently all stock in the exhaust section so that is all I can contribute to this thread. Good Luck!

thanks for the input fellas.
i guess i could look into the DKF uncatted section 1 and have some resonators welded in? my thought process here is that it would amplify my current sound while suppressing the rasp. i'm looking for a crisp deep note + screamer up top. then when it's time for inspection, i swap to oem section 1. what do you think?

you mean your man-lover?
Also Zuby, did you get the CEL turned off after you tweaked the tune at Eurofest?

also, how was the fitment on the headers? I've heard mixed reviews about fabspeeds

so just a slight update...and thoughts for the future.
i'm getting the Evolve tune so hopefully no SES lights without the cats. i'm thinking of buying a supersprint section 1 pipe and having an exhaust shop weld in 2 ar20 resonators. that should hone in on the rasp. i recall reading somewhere that superspring doesn't match up with fitment with non SS parts? in this case i would be looking for it to mate to fabspeed headers and rogue engineering x-pipe. i'm on a quest for the perfect (to me at least) exhaust note that the s54 has to offer
