Exclamation A Mileage Question for ///M Owners

I currently own a Z4 Roadster. Actually, it's my wife's car... I am going to get a 2008 Z4MC at the end of the year for myself.

My question is this: Given that the Z4M has such a limited production, how long will the S54 last?

I understand that the S54 in the Z4M is basically the same as the E46 ///M, but I am reluctant to extrapolate the longevity data for the S54-E46M to the Z4M. I may be wrong not to do this, but I have limited experience with BMW's. The Z4 was my first BMW.

The more I own, operate and maintain my wife's Zed, the more I love the brand and since I keep a car for a long time, I will have my ///M for five or more years.... It will also be my daily driver.... and I do at least 100miles a day....

oh man, I have the same question. I absolutely love my z4m and want to keep it for many years so I can hand it down to my kids or drive it as an old man. But now it is my daily driver and I do maybe 70 miles a day, so I am scared I am not going to be able o have my first roadster in the future.

I believe the engine itself is extremely rugged, enough in fact that many here on the boards track yearly. The paint, however, probably will get beat up pretty bad without a clear bra or protection of some kind with that type of daily mileage, not to mention the interior wear.

the S54B32 engine, is pretty much bullet proof (now that the bearing-shells are bmw made) but after your warranty it WILL be pricey to service the car. look up S54 valve adjustment and you'll see what i mean. i have no worries of the motor dying on me (i came from rotary engines so i KNOW what a "unreliable" motor is), more of a case of funds running short to keep the car performing like it did new (of course this in the unseen future of past my 50k miles/4 year coverage)
