2nd Place!

Just watched the Dubai 24 hours race telecast on Sky. Event was in January. One of the two Z4 M Coupes came in second place overall, just 49 seconds behind the winner! Another 3 laps and it would have won based on lap times toward the end! Eight of the top 10 overall finishers were Porsches (mainly GT3s) and the other top ten finisher was a BMW E46 M3 GTR in 9th place. The Z4 M Coupe looked great out there, even though it was in Saudi Arabian green and white instead of factory colors. Anyway, it was cool to watch it race at that level.

It's funny, the P-car folks flame me every time I so much as mention the e86 ///M and a GT3 in the same sentence even though actual race results (and my own HPDE experience with the local P-Car club) would indicate the e86 deserves at least a nod.

You think wrong. It's a rev increased 400 hp S54 I6. It's an endurance racer, so ultra high power isn't needed. More important is reliability and well balanced car capable of consistently quick lap times. They commented often about the car's great handling and precision around corners. 1 of the 4 drivers was female, and she was the quickest of the 4 and was in the car during the last stint and catching the leader easily. It sounded sweet BTW.
