BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Just bought this recently, but with headers, the rasp is killing me

I'm thinking about trading for a stock section1 because I want to cut off the cats from the stock one and put in some resonators, etc.

Asking $200 on top of a trade for OE section1. Or $500 SHIPPED on its own. Local trade preferred. Let me know if you'd be interested, thanks

This is now officially for sale. Anyone want to buy this so that I can purchase a stock section1 to hack up (add resonators to)?

Just curious...since you're in Cali, how do you plan on passing smog after removing those cats? This, what you called "communist" of a state is getting ever so strict on smogs more and more

Have you thought about going back to the stock x pipe to get rid of some of the rasp?

X-Pipe doesn't make the difference in terms of rasp. I'm planning on going back to stock section1 however to rid the rasp in my system, with the two catalytic converters helping out. I'll lose some peak power and torque, but oh well. Should still be at least 300rwhp or so

Isn't the stock x pipe resonated? It's worth a shot if you can change it out quickly.

It might be, I'm not sure. But I do know that just replacing the x-pipe won't make enough of a difference in ridding the rasp. However, putting the stock section1 back in WILL for sure rid the rasp. I know because I did headers before section1 (followed by section2), so that's why I'm willing to sell my unresonated and uncatted s-pipe to those that don't already have headers installed.

And unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to do JUST section1 OR just section2. Both sections need to be removed =/
And one of the rear torsion bars need to be removed if you want to take out section2. Pretty annoying process altogether, even though I have access to a lift and shop's air/power tools

What happens when you don't have cats in your system besides a CEL, does it affect how your engine burns fuel?

Besides a CEL (assuming you don't get an ECU tune, or relocated O2 sensors), the car will just run normal, if not better at the top end. Free-flow is good for the most part. But of course, if no backpressure at all whatsoever for NA motors, then you give up low-end response, power, and torque for gains in the upper-end of the RPM range.

I would recommend this uncatted/unresonated section1 to those that don't already have aftermarket headers (deleted primary cats), or those that don't plan to have headers in the future, or those that don't mind a lot of rasp.

This motor is known for its rasp, but most people don't prefer it.
