Suspension sqeaks?
Recently, I've noticed my rear driver side suspension squeaking as I get into the car. Anything to worry about? I'm not a heavy guy. I only weight 170 pounds. It concerns me only because I've got a 2002 Honda Civic and that thing doesn't squeak at all. Is this something I should have the dealer look at? My Z4 3.0si has less than 17,000 miles. Should the sport suspension start going bad at this point or does it just need a lube job?

I usually drive with loud music. Let me test it tomorrow if the weather is good.

Don't pull up on the hand brake.

I have the same "feature."
How exactly do I grease the handbrake wire to fix this? Can I do this from the cabin with an aerosol can? I removed the wheel to see if I could find any obvious grease-points, but I didn't. I couldn't reproduce the sound with the wheel off either. And I didn't want to guess-grease anything that close to the brakes. Thanks. |

I believe the squeak is the result of the pad moving on the rotor. As you add and remove weight from the car the ride height changes and the wheel moves thru an arc. It probably is a fair amount of torque being generated by the small ride height change.
Nothing to worry about... either ignore it, set the brake harder or find quieter rear brake pads |
