History of pre-owned vehicles - there is none!
I purchased a 2.5 03 with 85k on the odometer and want to get extended warranty through carchex.com (whichever one looks good)
Can I call any bmw to see if that vehicle has been maintained? Thanks in advance! |

You can call BMW North America and sometimes they'll give you a service history. Otherwise, go to a service center and try to coax it out of a service advisor.

Be prepared to put up a fight. BMWNA will most likely refer you to a dealership. And the dealership will most likely tell you they cannot provide that information. It's ridiculous why they have treat the information as if it were top secret and strictly confidential. It's just service history.
I had to call numerous times and then when I went into the dealership to get a screen printout of the service history I still had to argue with the dumb B who told me she can't hand over that information even after I told her someone else already gave me the entire service history over the phone! Be firm yet polite. Don't let them tell you they can't provide that information...because they CAN! Good luck. |

Their official policy is not to give out that info. Visit all your local dealerships, be nice, flirt a little with the ladies and you will find one who'll give you the printout.

You'll most likely only get the service history that was performed under warranty, up to 4 years/50k miles. For some reason my dealership was able to provide this, but not the history afterward. Fortunately I bought the car at 55k miles, so there's only a 5k mile gap.

The most common is BMW extended 6yr/100K miles. Read the terms to know what you get know as this does not cover most mechanical failures other than the basics (engine, transmission,...) Electronics are covered pretty well though. IIRC it costs anywhere between $1,700 and 2,500, depending on the dealer.
