Look what I found when I did the passenger side engine mount bolts...
Dammit BMW, when can I stop fixing "common" problems and just enjoy the car? I'm out of warranty so SOL.
Photo 1: One one of the bolts was indeed backing out on my '06 with 38Km. Photo 2: Saw a rusty open hole by the engine mount and VANOS accumulator.. Am I missing something here? Photo 3: Something in my power steering system is leaking. Is this the high-pressure hoses problem that most early-builds are experiencing? |

38k?? That engine/bay looks terrible.. Get in there and clean her up. What's with all the surface rust? Mines got over 130k miles and is immaculate.
Must be all the salt from winter. That does play havoc.. But yeah needs a clean fir sure |

That power steering leak is indeed the trombone hose that commonly fails. Wipe it down and watch to see how quick it dirties up again. Mine leaks, but it takes months for any fluid to accumulate; its such a small amount that I'm ignoring it for now.
That bolt hole is interesting, curious to see if someone comes up with an answer. |

Check the top of that hose and make sure there's a gap between it and the engine.
Mine was rubbing and almost wore all the way through.
