What A Putz
Driving here on sunday, about lunch time and saw a z4 just like mine. This z4 was same color also and coming up in my rear view mirror. I said to my wife cool we have a fellow z4 owner coming up and around us. As the putz passed by I waved with a smile, He didn't even look just passed like I wasn't even there. Oh well I know its no big deal it must be because the plate was from michigan. I always give a friendly wave to fellow z4 owners Don't you?

Sadly this does not appear to be too out of the norm from my experience.
I think with exception of the ppl on this forum, most z4 drivers aren't very friendly Doesn't stop me from waving like a mad man everytime I see one though. Maybe why they all run away from me -gc |

I think many drivers simply don't "see" other cars. They drive looking at whatever is 30 feet in front of them and nothing registers in their minds about what's ahead or around them. I can't count the number of times I've seen a cop sitting in the median in plain site for a mile and some car will zoom by me and jump on the brakes only when they're within 100 yds of the cop. People just don't pay attention. I bet that other driver never noticed another Z4.

And to a lot of people a car is the means to get them from point A to B. They go out and spend the money on a nicer car but still keep the same mindset.

Really have to be driving with a "cranial rectal inversion" to not see a fellow Z4...

A couple of years ago my son and I were driving along in our Z4 after I had just washed and waxed it. At a red light, an older guy in an older and dirtier and rougher looking Z4 hauled up alongside us on the passenger side. My son disregarded the condition of the car and immediately gave the fellow Z4 driver an enthusiastic and friendly thumbs up. The arsehole looked over with a scowl, dropped the clutch and took off with a screech. Did I forget to say that buddy was a complete arsehole?

I nod or wave to all convertibles I see with their top down :-)
If the top is up, I ask out-loud "what are you thinking?" (42 is warm enough) Maybe I am just weird. Steve |

You'll find this with most cars. Our community of enthusiasts is really nice and kind hearted, but that doesn't mean everyone who owns these cars is the same way. I found the same thing with the 3000GT and Miata enthusiasts when I owned those cars. I think you're more likely to get a positive response from someone in the same model car if theirs is the higher performance model or a modified car.

I try doing the same. I think convertibles need their own wave like motorcycles. I try to wave over the windsheild if eye contact is made.

I, like most of us on this list, go out of my way to try and dispel that as best I can. But, in the spirit of confession, I did cut off a lame Prius driver last night. The turn light was green and I'm behind him. Would he accelerate to get the light? no...well, I made the light ;-)

Let me in the Blue club too!
Before I bought this 2009 Z4, I was test driving a '13 Miata. A ~2011 or 12 28i came up behind me. I was dying to ask the owner about that car/engine, etc. If they had cross shopped the Miata at all. I slow down at a red light and we are right beside each other. I'm waving...beeping....inching up and drifting back...my top is down. The driver (some chick) couldn't be bothered with a Miata. Never thought about looking over at me. I could've been dying! Ahh well...apparently it didn't sway my judgment too much. |

There's a weird bunch of folks out there. I see a z3 everyday on the way home from work and every single time the driver gives me the stink eye. I always smile and wave back at her over the windshield (only ever drive the z with roof down, even at night and or below 10C). She ignores my existence when I'm in the Audi so I know it's Z4 hate. Go figure!

I rarity see Z4s around. I saw a article on the AOL, it said that statistically BMW owners tend to be unfaithful to their spouses. Seriously, one thing you can count is HATERS!

Even here in Germany, no matter if it's 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 or ///M...hell even E89's wave. but yeah, there's still a few that are oblivious to anything no directly in their tunnel, as mentioned.
Whenever that happens I just smile and say they're not 'real drivers'. haha

I do the "peace" wave with my fingers. Usually one hand on the wheel and the other on the knob. So I just put two fingers up. Or three. Still counts right? Lol
