Another newbie question

Is it normal for the orange indication light in the park position of shift selector to stay illuminated after leaving the vehicle. Can't find any notes addressing this in manual?

Yes, for a certain amount of time then it goes out, at least that's what it does on my 2001 E39.

Some goes out after about 15 minutes, others don't. My e53 X5 goes out after 15 minutes or so, but I've heard others with the same model indicates that theirs are always lit.
