How to remove front bumper?

I have seen mr.Rogers DIY or what hes name was but he didnt have the headlight washers.

Do I need to remove the caps for the washers and then the washers itself before I take the bumper of?

Please help.

When you have the bumper off you'll see little clips where the hoses attach to the washer pumps. Just leave the pumps installed on the bumper and pull the clips and hoses. Have a clean bottle or something handy to catch all the washer fluid so you can put it back in when you're done.

take the bumper off first, after that you can remove the clips and after that the washers.

Well, finally took the plunge.

Yesterday me and my brother took the front bumper of for a repaint due to stone chips.

The bumper was no problem, the problem was the black grill/mesh. That was a PITA

3 Small things happened and I want you to beware.

The hinges were the bumper meets the fender was very very tight and I got a small crack in the plastic thing thats attached to the car. But superglue will fix that.

The washer caps are very fragile and I broke one of them, see pic further down.

I forgot about the washer fluid, lol got my feet all wet for a while

Regarding the expanding rivet, I've never been able to find the ones that originally came on the car. Every time I go in to buy them BMW sells me different ones (got all those part numbers somewhere) but they've all worked. Thanks for posting up that part number. Looks correct to me.

There are many types of fasteners that work, but the ones on my car is called a "blind rivet" part number "07147172274". They are the same as ones in the picture Philly posted. I used a rivet gun to install them. They are one time use, so you can use the other ones that the pin slides in and out to remove if you take your bumper off allot, though the blind rivet ones are much more secure.

On realoam it looks like it's date specific (3/2007) whether they used a "expanding rivet" or "blind rivet" although I've seen 2 cars with build dates 10/2006 that both had blind rivets, which is contradictory to what realoam shows. See no. 3 & 11.

I have a build date of 02/2006, and have the expanding rivets.
They seem to hold fine, and you can retrieve the pins (usually) and reuse them.

The part number for blind rivet is 07147172274. Harbor Freight sells the tool for blind rivet. It comes with some rivets that is close to the size.

Wow. Good deal. The exact same rivet tool I picked up from an auto parts store was $40 iirc.

Hello again.

I bought both of the rivets and the ones I had on my car is 07147172274 and you need a pop rivet tool to attach these.

The other ones and more simple to attach and I will try these first, if they come of I will use the other ones.
