I wouldn't be expecting noticeable power gain, but I would like a few more dB of growl.
And maybe a few extra pops on lift.
This seems like a cheap and easy way to get some.
Don't want to mess with the stock headers. All that bung-hole business is too much of a PITA.

You wouldn't be saying that the 1st time u press the gas. Relocating bungs are a walk in the park. The groundwork has been done on this mod, but to each their own.

I would; having removed all my cats, I would say that gains, especially from section 1, really aren't noticeable.

Um yeah, that's what I was saying. Noticeable hp gains are from removing cats in the stock headers, not Sec1. - and it's an easy task

I just pulled the trigger on these.
I have RE cans, everything else still stock.
I waffled a lot on getting the X-pipe. Decided to put it off to the next stage.
I know B.O.C. said don't fear the Rasper (or was it Reaper? The 70s are a blur for me.)
Looking for a few more dB without sounding like an obnoxious ricer.
I'll get the X-pipe later when I get bored, or when one comes up for sale used.

Interested in results, power, but more in the soundtrack--whether it improves or suffers from rasp.

In other words, will you be able to hear "Last Days of May" over the rasp? Install should be a breeze for you, being a Veteran of the Psychic Wars and all.

1000 of 'em. The shakes are gettin' pretty bad.

If they fit right, it's just 10 bolts. If not, then I get creative.
I imagine most of the rasp would come from eliminating the resonator in the stock X-pipe.
So far with just the RE cans, it's all low frequency. Lots of grumble and thump. Not really pop.

It would be great to see some dynos with only replacing the header-back exhaust

This is one of two setups that I'm considering, super interested in results. I may buy the X first and then go to cans soon after... haven't decided if this would be worth the interest of the forum to increase cost in shipping/order.

Hmmm. RE apparently never returned from the Holidays.
"Thank you for your order! If your order was placed between Dec 25 and Jan 1, your order qualifies for FREE UPS Ground shipping (within the CONUS)."
...
"We will be processing orders when we return on Jan 2nd. Have a great holiday!"

TheBMWPartStore, conversely, has already shipped my order of associated gaskets, nuts, and bolts. They also sent me 3 emails tracking order progress and shipped Priority Mail 2-Day for $6.95 shipping.
I'm really getting to like these guys.

TheBMWPartStore is awesome, love them (besides paying tax because they reside in Ohio)

But ordering parts and getting then the next day is always good

Update:
Never got any email from RE, but apparently they're on the job.
Got an email from UPS saying items have shipped.

On a side note, the transaction with RE tripped my credit card fraud protection.
Called the card company and told them it was legit, but a charge right next to it from EZSVER RW for $14.95 was not. Turns out this is a scam perpetrated by ProFlowers.
If you buy something on line from ProFlowers, you automatically get slammed for $14.95/month.
With Valentine's day coming up, stay away from ProFlowers.

Finally ordered one as well; to replace my resonated section 1. Also ordered their x-pipe, so we'll see how it all sounds.

My midpipe should be here in time for an install next Friday.
If you don't like the X-pipe, I call dibs.

Yes, but I'm not buying these for any performance gain; just a change in sound.

I had Rogue build me a set of secondary cat delete pipes a couple years ago. Totally love them on the track..Makes the car should like a Messerschmitt ME 109!

The first video below is my car with headers, custom Rogue secondary cat delete pipes, and supersprint xpipe/race exhaust that Ben recorded with his iphone. This is my track set up and it is LOUD! The second video below is an in-car video from my brother's car at Pocono. He is running the same set up as me except for he is running the RE production prototype cat delete pipes instead of the custom ones I have on my car.

Not a problem... I love the sound! It can get a bit much when on the rare occassion I take my car into my apartment in NYC. The nice thing is I can swap between the stock mid pipe and the RE catless midpipe in a little less than an hour.

The best part about the cat less midpipes is my car now shoots nice blue flames..Def a crowd pleaser! Check out the video below at 8minutes 14 seconds... right after I pass the 330i ZHP I shoot a couple nice blue flames on the upshift.

F360C,

That's with Headers/Catless mid that you're shooting flames right? I'm kind of curious as to how much it takes to get that effect haha.

PS: Thank you for posting VIDS!!!!!
