Finally an OEM M Dead Pedal that “Fits”

Just like the title says, in the 10 years I’ve been on this board I don’t think I’ve ever seen an OEM dead pedal option that follows the lines of the factory pedal. And the few aftermarket ones that do looked too raw/unfinished imho.

Maybe this is old news but turns out the F series X3/4 pedal that comes with M sport option (not to be confused with the BMW catalog parts) is a near perfect match. Other than maybe being a 1/4” wider (if that), the top of the pedal is the only real section that doesn’t match the Z interior. Guessing on F series X3/4 that top section clips into the under panel trim whereas on the Z it just hangs out but it’s not noticeable.

I didn’t bother removing the old one since a) seemed like a pain in the ass to pull off velcro that’s been untouched for 10 years and b) it’d probably be more secure mounting the new pedal on a the flat surface of the old. For actual morning I just used 3 strips of industrial hook and loop strips....

Retails for $180 but I got mine off eBay (new) for $100 from an overseas BMW dealership. Not sure if the 3-series pedals would work [better] but I was happy with how this one turned out. Main pedals are the stainless pedal covers from BMW catalog.

(Excuse the dirty carpets)

That looks like nice. I've been looking at adding a nice aluminum pedal set (partly because It think I'm running out of other things to do). Will consider these.

Pricey but like I said I bought mine from a BMW dealership on eBay (Europe) and picked up for $100. I was skeptical at first but it’s definitely genuine, came in original packaging and all.

Thanks for the info. Could you share the link to the place you purchased from? Maybe others can get the same deal.

Freaking awesome! I didnt know they made a M dead pedal that fitted the Z4s, i ended up retrofitting one off a e46 m3 not perfect but it works. Also great choice in the performance optional pedals

Thanks to the OP as it gave me the path to a nice solution for my foot rest

The ///M version from the X3 was a bit too expensive, but, the other alternative is the M Performance option, which has a different design but I think is a good match to my pedal set.

Below is the X3 F25 dead pedal, is just a plastic plate with 3M adhesive on the back and the aluminum insert

As you can see, the profile is very similar, in fact is identical on the footwell side, but the cowl side needs trimming

Here you can see the masking I made so I could use as a guide during cutting.

After trimming, I probably could have trimmed 1mm more for a better fit, but it is fine as is.

And the final product!

That matches the other pedals much better than the dotty one.

Sorry I don’t know if the F10 pedal would fit.

Also fwiw months after I posted this, I actually did remove the original plastic dead pedal and installed the M pedal over the carpet (adding 3 new velcro strips). But it’s actually more secure now without having plastic pedal in between.
