Z4M ESS VT2-500 supercharger kit Installation - Review - Driving - impressions

Hi everyone, I have a Z4M Roadster and I have supercharged it using ESS VT2-500 beta kit.

I will start by sharing the dyno and reserve the next thread for everything else in terms of build, pointers, impressions, etc.

The car is making 457 rwhp and 340 wtq. I have the following mods that affect power:
* Euro headers
* Euro S-pipe with emptied cats with the catalysor chamber left to pseudo-resonate
* Stock resonated X-pipe
* Rogue Engineering El diablo mufflers
* Vanos timing mechanically advanced by 3 degrees

Never mind the next runs as it was 30 degrees Celcius heat and the dyno fan was not hitting the intercooler or oil cooler. This is after 100 Kms of adaptation and break-in. Also never mind the AFR as my gauge is showing 11.6 AFR instead of 10.6 and this is the accurate reading.

It's not that much advanced timing because the EML will light up if it was. it's only 3 degrees and the vanos will phase it out and will only be useful on full throttle when the engine is advancing timing to the max.
when the timing is being retarded to the max, e.g. low RPM, very low throttle input, the car will feel a little wierd, smooth but wierd, like it's not able to decide if it should go or stop, when you step on it, the tyres light up.

The fuel used is 98 RON imported from europe and is the most shittiest fuel you can see.

Just to clarify that my car was beating almost every e46 M3 with the same mods when it had the evolve tune.

It's supposed to...same power, but 200 lbs lighter

Very impressive...just curious why you didn't hold off for the 525 kit?

I didn't know it existed and when i asked AJ about it, he said the 525 kit is different in fuel injectors and tune and he needs more money to do it.

I see, I figured you had purchased it more recently (when they would've disclosed the 525 development) seeing how you've had it installed for 100km so far...regardless you put out solid numbers...higher than eas dynoed their 525 kit

Yes i'm very happy with the car, it's throwing out blue flame on engine cut-off like an AK47.
I will explain everything when I have some time to write a proper review.

Hey tikamak!

I'm curious as to the tune you were provided by ESS... did it inclue the provision for catless headers? I want to put headers on my car, but was told that it's made for use with stock headers. Kit is a VT2-500 as well.

Thanks!

The tune I was given by ESS works with catless headers as well as catless everything. I don't have cats in my system, at all.
