Z4M Wheels on Z4 3.0i ?!?!

This weekend I installed a set of OEM wheels and tires of a ZM (staggered 18x8 & 18x9) on my 2003 Z4 3.0i with sport package!

The fronts wheels appear to have very little or no clearance when the steering wheel is turned all the way in either direction. Also, the rear wheels actually protrude out slightly past the fender (~5").

Has anyone else tried this before???
Will I have issues???

Wheel offset for the rears is only 15mm difference plus .5" in rim widh which should result in ~21mm overall difference. Looks more like 2"!!! Does a Z4 M have flared fenders or is the entire rear end different.

Any input greatly appreciated!

Thanks.... Robert

OEM rims for the non-M:

Front: 18x8 ET47
Rear: 18x8.5 ET50

for the M:

Front: 18x8 ET42
Rear: 18x9 ET30

So just in terms of offset the rear outer rim should be 20mm + 0.5 * 0.5" or about 1" further out than the outer non-M sport package rim. On the front the difference is much less - only a 5mm shift in offset, less than 1/4".

The other thing affecting how close you sit to the fender though is the increase in tire diameter. If I recall correctly the Z4M uses 225/45/18 up front and 255/40/18 in the rear while the non-M uses 225/40/18 and 255/35/18, respectively. This means the edge of the tire tread will be half an inch closer to the fender if you mount Z4M tires and rims on a non-M. I suspect this is why it looks like you have such a tight fit up front.

For whatever reason I was thinking the M fronts were 18x8 offset 35 and rears 18x9 offset 35 also. I guess I was wrong. I'll see if I can post some pictures... Amazing how much of a difference a few millimeters can make. Effectively the outside to outside has been increased by just over 2" in the back and less than 0.5" in the front. Maybe I'll consider using wheel spacers in the front (10mm or so) to make the stagger seem less agressive. What do you think?
