RFT/non-RFT Question
Is it possible, or safe, to have RFTs on one axil and non-RFTs on the other? I will need to change my stock rear Potenza RFTs soon but my fronts still have plenty of tread. I know that the front RFTs affect ride quality and tramlining the most, but it won't hurt my pocket book as much to replace the rears now and replace the fronts later with better handling non-RFTs.
Has anyone done this before? |

NOT safe. The car will handle in unpredictable, squirrely ways. This goes as a general rule for mix-and-matching tires in general, not just RFTs.

REACH is correct...BUT
If it were I, and the car was not driven on track or in extreme street situations, I would try it and see what happens. I have had different branded tires on mine with no ill effect; they were, however, all non rft and the rft tire is a different animal. Remember, these cars start life with mismatched (size) tires. |
