You won't find a GT4 available for MSRP and my guess the GT350 either. The GT 350 at under $50k is also without any package, stripes or any option.

I had never heard of the Polaris Slingshot.
Looks awesome, but the engine's at the wrong end.
The KTM X-bow and Ariel Atom are pretty hard-core track day cars, so I think we've diverged from the original comparison.

GT350 w/o stripes is okay and there aren't many options I want, so 48-50K is a doable build number.

You won't be buying what you want for sticker this year and good luck finding exactly what you want this year at any price. I think there will only be 100 GT350's this year. From a quick search, it looks like there are about 3,000 Ford dealerships so excellent chance a dealer near you won't get one this year.

If he is willing to wait until next year and is seriously considering the GT350 then it would make more sense to actually wait for the reviews and see the car (will be interesting to see if they let you test drive one).

Ford Dealership near me says they have around a dozen ppl on a waiting list for a GT350R but are only getting allocation of 1 - 2 both of which will have markups (heft mark up at that). =(

Would love to get a GT4. But I'd be aiming for a 997.X GT3 in a few years.

The new lady is awesome, she enjoys the bike and even more so some hard driving in either of the cars. I'm calling her a keeper!
Keeper. I know of quite a few couples where one frowned on the other's car hobby and that ended the relationship. If she's a driver on top of seeing your hobby as "ok" that's pure gold.

What aspects of a car are you after? The Z offers a driver engagement level that's way higher than those on the list. I've owned or driven a lot of cars: E92 M3, 335, 1M, E36 M3, E46 M3, 1st Gen Cayman, 997.2 Carrera S, 997.1 Carrera S, 997.2 TTS, Ferrari 355, 450 SLC, 2015 Challenger, 2006 Mustang GT. None of those offer the engagement and visceral feel. (I plan to drive a 993 soon, perhaps that might offer a similar experience.)

If push came to shove I'd sell the TTS and keep the Z4M. The TTS is unbelievably fast and comfortable (great GT, as is the '78 450 SLC), but it's not "on edge" like the Z4M nor as it as precise or demanding. I think the 997.1 or 997.2 GT3 might offer "more" but at a significant cost. Or the new Z06. If you after sound and fury a Challenger Hellcat would do it. (I've logged 1,500 miles in a V6 Challenger and it's a surprisingly good car, more power, tires, fun.) But Add a BBK and ESS kit to the Z4M and you might just call it a day.

What about a supercharged S2k?

I haven't driven one, but it's a fair match in acceleration on the track. Track buddy of mine has one. I'd imagine the suspension offers some advantages. Wouldn't it be more of an equivalent trade?
