I can't wait to leave the office and take it up the mountains today. I barely drove it yesterday (test drive and taking it home 4 blocks away).
I didn't know this beast would turn so many heads. But I broke many necks yesterday on my way home. |

Congrats on the purchase! The coupes look sweet in white, definitely looking forward to seeing your progress with mods. Maybe I'll see you around in the bay area!

New Z4 owner, already started the mod list
Hey all,
Recently purchased an 06' 3.0i, have only done one mod so far (changed halogens with an HID kit). Will start on my home-made acrylic wind deflector this weekend, and really thinking about the 3.0i to 3.0si conversion (intake manifold/ECU tune) as soon as I become confident enough as this is my first BMW Great site, have already learned a lot! Let the modding begin! Brgds/Greg |

I actually didn't like the colors at first; to be honest, I was leaning towards the Montego blue with ivory colored interior/wood trim ...... but this one had the least wear & tear of the 2, and it had the car fax. The red interior/brushed aluminum trim is starting to grow on me though!
Although it is my first BMW, I'm pretty handy with a wrench, and don't mind spending my weekend under jack-stands, so, I should be able to figure it out as I go ..... as long as I can find pics on the forum |

Thnx! As I said, it is growing on me ..... I do need to look for some after-market interior trim panels as the Previous Owner marred/knicked-up the brushed aluminum pretty badly, expecially around the gear shifter.
With the seats and door trim being red, I'm thinking that silver or black is the only way to go ...... I have seen some "decent looking" CF in black and silver; just not sure I want to start putting el-cheap-o aftermarket plastic interior pieces on and regret it later ...... perhaps I just need to stick with OEM replacements or try to delicately touch-up what I have ....... uh ohhh .... another mod to add to the list |

John, I share your pain, I personally wonder if my car's previous owner just had a big heavy Breitling or Rolex watch worn on the right hand, or as you stated, pulled their seat-belt so far over that they hit the console.
I go on to wonder ..... how in GOD's name do you make that many knicks without realizing it and adjusting?!?!?! Was it because their dun-lop gut prevented normal buckling? Were they just retarded? Was it over-exaggeration of motion becuase they were PO'ed that day and thought they would take it out on the Z's seat-belt? To be fair, on mine, I'm talking about hundreds of little knicks, not just an occasional blemish .... it's like someone sat there with a mini jack-hammer .... but I digress, it did help me get another $500 off asking price once I pointed it out ....... and I apologize for my diatribe Last edited by AirOpsMgr; 07-15-2011 at 11:55 PM.. |

It appears a good opportunity to make a change and go with Carbon Leather trim.
Cheers

I really like the carbon leather, it was the other trim I was acceptable to in my initial search. I am kind of attached to the aluminum now, seems to work well with my car and interior.......... just glad I don't have the severity of damage he has

I must have gotten pretty lucky on both cars. My 1st 04 Z was off 3 year lease and only mark was a rub spot on the driver side seat where previous owner climbed in and out with out picking their butt up. 08 MR was imaculate! Not the 1st mark on any part of the interior. I have kept it that way too. I pick my butt up when getting in and out.

I looked at the CF leather, but not sure I want to go with that much black (due to the amount of black on dash, etc) - I think that silver CF would look good, but not sure I want to risk the $$ on what may end up being some hokey plastic looking parts.
I also had the seat wear on the driver's seat (leatherette), but it was on the left side about mid-back height on the bolster, like the previous owner always put their hand on the seat to swing out. The dealer had it fixed for me as part of the deal .... not sure what their vendor did, but must have dyed it because you can't even tell it was there. oh, and my top motor went out today ..... so now I get to use the DIY guides for top removal, motor replacement and drain cleaning .... yay lol, what's next, the dreaded N52 engine ticking?!?!?! ...... oh well, it is what it is |

Hi, obligatory check in note!
New to the forum, not new to BMWs! My current daily driver for the past 7 years is my still pristine Sterling Grey 2002 E39 M5 (before that a 2002 530 and before that a 1999 528). Had a 2007 Silver/black Z4M coupe for 3 years on lease; was going to buy it but dealer bent a strut tower during a "service" visit. Accordingly, just came home with my "new" 2007 Z4M coupe, Space Grey/black. One owner, 9K miles. It's good to have the coupe back. |

Never received a satisfactory response. Basically one of their techs was joy riding in it and smacked the front driver's side wheel on a curb or something else. The tech was fired (apparently there were other issues). I was not happy. I don't go to that dealer any longer.
