Does it come installed in the vent, or just the gauge by itself?

It comes installed in the modified vent, just as pictured in the link. No need to hack your existing vent. Completely plug and play, take your existing vent out, remove the cupholder (one screw), install the cupholder in the new vent/guage assembly, plug it in. If you decide to sell it at any time, it's a 10 minute reversal of the process. Thanks for inquiring.

That is a *damn* good deal. But it's *two* screws to remove the vent

Right. 2 screws to remove the vent, one screw to remove the cupholder from the vent.
