Install didn't go as smooth as it could have, though. The head of the plastic screw that holds the plastic bracket for the cover retainer stripped immediately so I had to back it out by hand w/ a socket. Then, once everything was disconnected, the battery wouldn't slide out. It seems that, at some point, there was some trauma to the tall bolt that holds down the battery clip. I noticed that it was slightly crooked when I took the bolt out. It appears that the metal disc/receptacle raised up slightly on one end so the battery would catch on it. Slightly tilting the battery got it over and out. I'll probably replace the tray and bolt at some point.

Interestingly, the OR battery has a little color indicator for sufficient charge, insufficient charge, and replace battery. It still indicated sufficient charge, but the battery only sat at 6.3V despite having been on a battery tender for days.
Makes me wonder how much longer my battery will last, haha.

What were your warning signs that it was time to replace it?

I bought some emblems for the engine bay after inspiration from No_Dominion's thread!

Part of me wonders if it is my own fault since I kinda didn't put it on a battery tender until a week ago..... There was, however, one instance last fall when the clock and such reset so I'm thinking it might've already started going. I store my car in the winter and didn't have it on a tender for the first 3-4 years but always lock the car while parked in the garage (year round).

While on the tender over the last week, the tender would show charging status for a few days and then seem to fault off. I'd get alternating red/green blinking status LEDs....which isn't defined on the magic decoder ring on the back of the unit.....and I never bothered to look it up online because I would periodically measure the voltage. It sat just over 12V until I started mucking w/ the car a little since I noticed the windows never closed fully after shutting the door.

I did not expect this, but even after replacing the battery, the windows wouldn't fully close when the door was closed. Instead, they stayed in the slightly dropped position like when you open the door. I had to sit in the car w/ the doors closed, turn accessory power on to the car, open the window a bit using the switches in the interior, and then close the windows. After I did that, opening the door dropped the windows slightly and closing the doors caused the windows to close fully.

Ahh, yeah, I can see how a few years with regular storage without a tender might cause some problems. My car is my DD, so that might be what has kept it from going kaput on me so far. I'll probably change it out before this winter just for peace of mind, though.

That sucks about the windows acting funky, but at least it's easy enough to reset them. So many electrical systems in modern cars, they seem to be far more susceptible to problems when batteries start to have issues in comparison to older vehicles. Trade off for modern technology, I suppose.

I picked up one of these analyzing tools which arrived today...

https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...ool/ES2975699/

and I found a OEM tool kit.. Should be here soon!

Now I need a hard top tool and a OEM wind block, and car cover.

Bought a few detailing products and finally deduced a workaround for the no-garage, no driveway and no car washing in Santa Clara county issue.

DIY stall at a low-traffic time and I can sneak in a mitt and brushes, sadly no buckets though.

Went mooching around the inter webs looking for "heel pads" to cover the ugly thread bare $120 car mats where my heel sits.
Came across Pedal Haus and spent some of the income tax monies.
Parts are well made. The paint finish is a little cheesy, but when they start looking ratty I'll just get them powder coated.
