Got you. All true. I have just stayed away all together. I remember BBQing at his house and remembering him always telling my wife and I how much he hated some new HID assembly MB put in one of the AMG cars back in 2005. lol Anyway I would look for something else. Doesn't Porsche have an SUV or luxury car?

Sure, Porsche has the Panamera. To quote Top Gear's Jeremy on the looks of the Panamera--It's hideous. Not just hideous compared to other high performance luxury cars but hideous from the perspective of a genital wart".

The Panamera is also as big as a 7 series and an S model (wouldn't want anything slower than that) is over $100K.

An SUV is not part of the equation.

Are the C63 dual clutch auto or Tq. converter? I say go with a m3 sedan over a C63, but if you're bored of BMWs (what part of BMW are you bored with? Or, are you just bored with the Z4?), then good luck with your car search.

Personally I love the C63 AMG. Guy down the hall from me here at the office has a 2011 and he's had no problems at all; still as happy with it as the day he bought it. And he's an ex-BMW person (last car being an E46 M3). I've only been in it once and I was duly impressed with performance and fit/finish. To me anyway, it's no secret that BMW interior's are unimpressive. In fact, a secretary here recently bought one of the Hyundai models and it's interior is even far better than any newer BMW I've been in. But still, the C63 was very nice inside; just felt like quality everywhere. The power display he did for me quite frankly blew me away. I wasn't expecting that from a car that would appear to be so damned heavy. lol You'll find people of course that will bash one marquee or another, and I'm one of those that a few years back would have bet I'd never own a MB. These days I'm not so sure. Deal is, most cars I lust for that I've never owned are beyond my budget and those that are within the budget don't inspire me. Trust me, that's a much bigger problem than deciding what color to go with.

I know what you mean, I lust over a 997 GT3 and a 458 spyder...
The interior in the C63 is nice but I was expecting more leather, for instance the center arm rest is plastic as is the whole dash, not a big deal just unexpected to me since I was told the interior was so nice.

Sadly it's an automatic, haven't had a chance to drive one yet... For 2012 they have something that looks to be a 7 speed dual clutch but I don't want to buy a new one, they depreciate faster than they accelerate to 60.

I'm also contemplating an S4 because it has a dual clutch.

Jumping to a MB is one thing, to a Cadillac is a completely different one and I don't think I want to. Plus it's quite big.

When I had my SL I was a member over at MBWorld. Without the slightest doubt, the people on this forum are a better group of people. The members here are a much friendlier, more helpful crowd than over there. Your mileage may vary.

Are there other MB forums I should be looking at? That was the first one I came across, haven't really posted anything there yet.

I joined and contributed to both MBWorld and Benzworld. Neither of them had a user base that was anywhere near as engaging as this one. It's hard to quantify what I'm saying, and have forgotten some of the interactions that influenced my opinion.

+1 for the CTS-V.

Plenty of reviews putting it ahead of the C63 AMG despite a 200lb (approx) deficit. Seriously considering it for my next family car.

Happy shopping!

Yes. Exactly for things like that. Basically the place is populated 75% by smug, entitled douche bags. You're just as apt to get a negative response to any question as a helpful one. That and their propensity to pepper their ultra-right political viewpoints throughout the forums, and I just didn't much feel like keeping up with the content there. The place stinks.

Have you tried mymbonline.com? I haven't posted much there, so I can't comment on their helpfulness-just giving you other options.

i like the c63, but the interior of the new c350 is miles ahead and much more refined than the amg. im not sure when they will be updating the 4 door amg model....

i drove both the amg and the m3 sean and prefer the m3. amg looks awesome, and the interior is nicer as well, but the manual transmission and general feel of the m3 was better IMO

AFAIK the 2012 C63 has an updated interior, I'm looking at 2010s though. I'm actually looking for a DCT car (yeah, the MB is automatic, but it sounds sooooo good!), I'm a bit tired of the 3 pedals.
