Switching off Airbag light with INPA
In an attempt to switch off the dreaded airbag light on my 2006 3.0 I've installed INPA on a diagnostic cable and have the page up ok on my laptop for BMW model selection (with cable connected and ignition on of course) but can't see how to get to airbag options. Any help much appreciated.

Be really careful with INPA -- you can easily cause damage, so be absolutely sure you know what commands to input (I don't know what they would be, otherwise I would tell you)

I got as far as trying to delete the airbag error message but both the airbag lght and the passenger airbag light are still on. I'm really pi...d off with BMW. This appears to be a worldwide problem and includes their Minis as well, yet the company will not act responsibly and deal with the problem. It's not the sound system that is defective it's the airbag system for God's sake where peoples lives are at risk. I want to dump this car in the spring and never want to own a BMW again but the trouble is I just love the car and what is a decent alternatve ? I've been driving open sports cars for 45 years and giving up the open sports car experience would be like giving up sex or beer. |

If you want to drive to Hartford, I can turn the light off as I have DIS all configured, but you should be able to find a small BMW shop that could do it for say, $30 or so?

To supply, fit and turn of the lights they quoted $780. I can get the cushion/mat from Getbmwparts for $420.20 (the part number apparantly is 52109144002). So I could save myself $360 by fitting it myself but I think maybe stripping a seat down might be tricky and then I would still have to get the lights switched off. Thanks for the offer, I have put the car to sleep for the winter but if I take the plunge and fix it myself I will certainly contact you. I'm not too far away in Quincy Mass. Mike |
