Loss of a great one
Yesterday Dan Gurney passed away at 86 years of age. A great driver who mastered F1, Indy and Nascar! Our Z4M coupes have a double bubble roof whose origin can be traced to the need for more clearance in early sportscars for the helmets of tall drivers. Gurney was 6'3. RIP!

RIP Dan. A tremendous driver, innovative builder, and all around fine gentleman.

I grew up in SoCal and vividly remember the inaugural 1970 California 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway....the track is now a shopping center, but was an exact replica of Indy including the turn banking degree, etc.
I can still hear the announcer calling out the 11 rows of 3...."and driving the Olsonite Eagle car no. 48....from Costa Mesa, CA....Dan Gurney!" Additionally, I saw Dan and/or his cars at Riverside Raceway which is now a shopping center as well.
