Volk RE30 limiteds

Just fitted some 19" Volk RE30 Formula Silver Limiteds to my Z4MC. I'll try and post some pics. Front wheels are 19 x 9 et38 and rears are 19 x 10 et25 with Nitto NT05s - 245/35and 275/30 rears. Car is on stock springs (and camber) so no rubbing. I was leaning towards some RE30 formula silvers but I got a good deal from Vivid Racing on these limiteds - wheels and tires mounted for $3900 shipped. Personally I think the contrast of the interlagos blue of the car, the formula silver of the wheel spokes and the polished rims worked out well. I read another post about how the the NT05s smell of wet hay and it's true! Wheel / tire combined weights are 44lbs front and 46lbs rear so I reckon I've saved ~8 lbs or so per wheel over stock wheel / tires. Car now feels really planted during more agressive cornering. Turn in / steering response are appreciably better and the car even seems to be accelerating quicker too. Put the wheels on myself and just loved the way the rear wheel lips and more agressive offsets filled out and transformed the look of the Z4MC rear arches.

Man those looks awesome. If you get a chance post of a shot looking straight on at the side of the car. Good fitment too.

Did they have the wheels instock or did they have to order them?

Looks good! Those are aggressive offsets in those sizes but apparently it works. Now drop it. And take some farther away pics from eye-level.

Wheels were in stock but they may have been the last set of RE30 limiteds at Vivid in these sizes/offsets. Try calling BJ at Vivid (ext 228). Glad you like em. I'll try and take a side on shot tomorrow hopefully with some sunlight on the wheels.

I went for the highest offset (38mm) that was available in 19 x 9 for these wheels with our bolt pattern (stock is et42) and so far haven't noticed any rubbing at full lock with 245/35 NT05s.

I have to admit I was worried that et25 on a 10" width wheel would be too much, and it might be on an 18" wheel, however I think the stock camber was enough to tuck the 19"s flush with the fender. I agree that a drop would look good - however given how bad the roads are here in Denver I'm not sure how much of a drop I'll be able to get away with. A set of adj. coilovers are definantly a future mod.

Welcome to the RE30 club!

Great looking wheels. If you want to see what they look like with a drop, check out pictures I posted. Mine are more of a flat silver finish vs. the bright finish on yours but you will get the idea. Once again- congratz

I'd been thinking about these wheels for a while and then the pics of your car convinced me to spend some money. These wheels look even better in the metal especially when they catch some sunlight.

Here are some more pics for those that asked for them.

Man those really do look awesome.

I did some searches a few nights ago on here looking for sizing and offsets. It is funny you mention that you were worried about the 19x10+25 in the rear. My search turned up a fair amount of people running that exact size, but no one that I remember was running a 9" width front rim, all 8.5". Glad it is working for you, because they look stellar.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I decided on 9" fronts because:
1. European car magazine ( http://www.europeancarweb.com/tuned/...z4m/index.html ) seemed to have no trouble running 18 x 9 Forgelines on their Z4MC project car with an et39. They are running a 245/40/18 Nitto Invo front tire and the 1010tire calculator says their tire diameter is 25.71" compared to 25.75" for my tires. Their sidewall height comes out to 3.85" versus 3.37" for my tires though so I thought I would be close enough to their settings to avoid rubbing.
2. I did not want to increase any propensity for understeer in the car by running 8.5"s fronts vs 10" rears on the stock susupension.
3. I wanted to run 19"s as I thought that the more track orientated 18"s would look too small with the RE30 design. Besides I'm not tracking the car yet as it's paint work is still in great shape (it has 7.5K miles and is also BMW certified).
4. As far as I could tell RE30s were not available in a 19 x 8.5 with our bolt pattern and I got a great deal on this particular set of wheels from Vivid.

I really wanted to drop my unsprung weight, run forged wheels for strength v weight and still run 19" wheels for bling, so these wheels seem to check all the right boxes. My understanding is that Rays may have released these particular wheels to commemorate their association with the BMW F1 team so they are even BMW appropriate.

I'm going to check again today for any rubbing issues on the car and let you know as I'll be driving it a few more miles today.

I'd completely forgotten about that European Car mag article. Some good info there.

I did a quick photoshop drop for motivation to finish the job

Very pretty!

I've been eying a set of RE30's for a bit now, too. 18x9 up front in +40 and 18x9.5 out back in +35.

Why not go for the 18 x 9.5 with et 25. It should easily fit and also give you the bigger L2 size lip rather than the L1 you will have with the et35 wheels(see http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheel...acing/re30.htm ).

Good point. But the +35 gives me a bit more flexibility with respect to moving the wheel in and out with spacers if necessary.

EDIT: The 18x9.5 +35 (L1) does give a staggered lip compared to the 18x9 +40 (S2). The +25 just gives you the MOST concave and the MOST deep dish. Not a huge priority of mine. And I'm happy that there is some stagger with the +35 vs +40 setup.

Just know that without spacers is going to be 16mm sunken than the pictures seen here.
