UUC transmission mount broke
Today while under the car trying to install DKF S pipe, I found that one of my UUC transmission mounts has developed a massive crack. I have the black poly (street and occasional track) version.
The mounts were installed less than 2 years ago. They have seen a couple of track days, and normal spirited street driving. They have probably about 12K miles. My car was supercharged 10K miles ago. I have not been to the track since supercharging yet. I plan to in the near future. I guess I'm suspending the S pipe install and need to find new suspension mounts first. So I can install everything together while I'm there. My car right now is not a daily driver. I wouldn't mind a bit increase in NVH. Any recommendations? |

I'd check motor mounts--it may be there's trouble there putting more stress on the transmission mounts.
You're not the only one with broken UUC poly mounts either though. IIRC another forum member had them basically rot and go bad after a year. For this application neoprene are a better choice IMO--see my sticky for options Here is the link for the melt/rot. |

Thanks man! I will check the motor mounts. One motor mount bolt broke a while back while the car was under warranty. The dealership replaced the failed bolt. I haven't experienced any suspicious vibration since.
Funny thing is after the UUC tranny mounts were initially installed I noticed a bit more NVH. The mounts gradually became more compliant for some reason. I chalked it all up to mounts being broken in. I guess in reality the mount turned soft due to the crack? lol BTW, I'd like to stay away from UUC this time. I've been doing a bit reading on the forum. It seems AKG mounts are a pretty good option. At least one member reported positive results. Vorshlag seems to be very race oriented. Any recommendations? |

the tranny mounts are supporting a tiny amount of weight, around 15% of the drivetrain weight, for this reason id upgrade the engine mounts and stick with the stock tranny mounts personally vibratech told me the bobbin style stock transmission mount will be a hard piece to beat, in other words, its already very good!

I'm looking into the AKG motor and tranny mounts combo.
The red ones (#MTS36D) http://www.akgmotorsport.com/catalog...Trans%20Mounts Maybe this will end the 1 to 2 shift mini grind, and any drivetrain sloppiness? |

Many here will recommend Vibra Technics. I will too. Nothing better out there IMO. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ht=Motor+mount

Nothing is remotely close to these mounts.

agreed the VT mounts are Streets ahead of the competition, and the fact that you can rebuild them to street/comp spec for 40 bucks all in makes the deal even sweeter. The ONLY mount allowed to be used in the race e36 series in the uk.
