Keep Roadster or look for Coupe??

I love my M-Roadster and have taken it to VIR for a few sessions. When I first purchased the roadster, I wasn't thinking about a track car. Now I am... I honestly, enjoy driving the M-Roadster over my M4 at the track.

Has anyone seen or heard of someone installing a roll cage in a roadster?

The only way I can come up with, so far, is to remove the top completely and install a roll cage. Permanently relegating it to the garage. Fair weather toy/track car ONLY.

Think I'd end up spending more money on turning the roadster into a track car vs selling it and buying an M-Coupe?

My 2006 roadster just hit 40k mi and I don't want to end up buying some thrashed track car.

Here's my best lap at VIR last Wednesday.

Track: Virginia International Raceway ( VIR ) - Full Course - Beautiful day

Region: Mid-Atlantic & Southeast

Car: '06 M-Roadster - Stock

Tires: Toyo Proxes R88R

Laptime: 2:15

Garage List
I won't tell you how to spend your money, but we still live in an era where clean, well-kept M coupes sell at a reasonable price. The writing is on the wall as the Z3M, 1M and E46 M3 are all appreciating in value.

The added torsional rigidity of the coupe will surely be noticed and you can run sans roll bar unless you decide to go full race car. How much road use does it see versus track use? You have a history of convertibles (sig), will you miss it??

The coupe is awesome. Its incredibly stiff and the steering is slightly quicker than the roadie. Larger antiroll bar too. Nice lap- just put a mic up the intake and exhaust like top gear next time lol.

I see people putting hardtops on roadies, that might give you another option for putting a rollbar or cage in the car and still being able to drive it on less than perfect days.
