Missing something under hood?
I have an 2008 Z4si roadster. Today when I opened the hood, I noticed what appears to be something missing from near the hood latch - a piece/part that would normally be screwed in there? Does anyone know?

I asked the same question a few months ago when I got my Coupe. There is not supposed to be a hood latch there. It looks like something was screwed into the boss because they probably use a hook there during manufacture of the vehicle (i.e. transport the hood on a overhead conveyor.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Part number 11 and 12 in the link below occupy that space on my '04 3.0i. I guess the hood latch design was changed in the facelift.
