Euro headers EGT codes
I recently installed euro headers. I removed the rear O2 sensors, and the EGT was placed in the same location as the stock US headers. After installing, I got the expected O2 codes, along with an EGT code (2C92) and the SES light.
I then had my DME flashed with Epics tune. The SES light was removed, and I cleared all codes. However, I keep getting the recurring EGT codes (2C92 and 2C93) - EGT electric and plausibility. The car feels slightly underpowered, and is definitely running rich based on fuel consumption (+20%) and the rapid carbon buildup on the exhaust tips. I have contacted Epic regarding this issue and he is certain it is a failed EGT sensor. I find this odd as I had the car in for inspection II at the dealer less than a week prior to installing the headers, and they did not pull any codes related to the EGT. Does anyone have any experience related to this issue or have any suggestions? |

Its possible to burn a sensor immediately after moving them around and the car is still adjusting. Assuming its connected correctly

Double checked electrical connections a couple times, no problems there. In the bavarian autosport documentation with codes I have, there are 3 listed for EGT:
2C87 - EGT sensor signal 2C92 - EGT sensor electric 2C93 - EGT sensor plausibility I initially was only throwing 2C92, but am now getting both 2C92 and 2C93 |

I don't know, but maybe it expects to have the EGT in the euro location?

Check the other various threads on this. Only 1 member I know has placed his EGT sensor in the header and had it 'work'. I'm skeptical at best with it in that location. The rest of us have placed it in the stock EURO location without any codes or CEL.
Also, check your gaskets. |

I had to replace my EGT sensor was throwing same codes and car is now cel free. When I had my EGT sensor in section one pipe I was underpowered. I am running epic tune as well.

Wait, so let me get this straight. If you get the SS V2 and have the o2 bungs welded behind the 2ndary cats, you need to put the EGT sensor in the Euro location? Even without a tune?

Same setup here. Interesting that you were throwing same codes and needed to replace EGT sensor as well. Did you have any codes/issues before the headers and tune?
Sounds like I'll be ordering a new EGT sensor as per Randy's recommendation, figured I'd get a few other opinions before spending an extra $200. |

Randy is great to deal with hope you are happy with his tune. |

I do not have an SES light anymore, but still throw codes for the rear O2 sensors and the EGT, so I assume Randy turned off the SES light for those codes. Hopefully the new EGT sensor will keep my car from running so rich and help make the power it should

I'm curious to relocate my EGT sensor to your location and see if there is extra power to be had, but I'm extremely skeptical. Not sure anyone has tried this on a set of Euro headers before? (Pls chime in if u have). Either way, I'd like to line up w/u sometime and see what's what. |

I just want to be sure of what to do when I install my euro headers. A while back I was very confident that this was a mod that would work with no issues. I recently began reading the forums again about it and now I'm more skeptical, seems like a crap shoot if your going to have problems or not.
Theoretically, if I move the o2 sensors behind the section 1 cats and move the EGT to section 1 ahead of the cats, it should work with no codes? Is it better to use shorter O2 bungs rather than long ones? Pics of factory euro section 1s seem to show short, 90-degree bungs. Just not really willing to have: persistent codes or CEL lights, or problems like increased fuel consumption or less power. I really don't want to be dealing with the latter two issues, kind of defeats the whole purpose of doing this....

From what I understand, if you are not planning on getting a tune for the car, you will want to relocate your rear O2s and EGT to mimic the euro section one. Many people seem to have done this and are code/SES free. If you plan on getting a tune for the car, I would contact them to confirm that these euro sensor locations will work for their specific tune.
As I have the Epic tune with euro headers, I just removed the rear O2 sensors, and put the EGT in the headers as it was on the US headers. I communicated this EGT location to Randy, and I assume the tune is written to account for that location. |
