Hey george I'm sorry if this is a bit off topic but, do you run an m6 oil cooler in addition to a setrab unit? I'm trying to plan things out for later.

No the M6 oil cooler was with stage 1 . It doesn't work with the stage 2 intercooler in place . Honestly my stage 1 set up with the m6 oil cooler and the Zionsville radiator was a better track setup heat wise and I prob wouldn't upgrade again . With the 34 row Setrab I purchased ( a much smaller one came with the 525 kit . I'm finally good heat management wise , but tons of issues with the upgrade took my car out a lot last year . Wrong pulley's , belts , undersized injectors , wrong tune . It was rough .

Thank you for the reply George. if I ever do get a supercharger it will be the 445 kit. in regards to performance and heat issues on track could you compare stage 1 and stage 2? is stage to significantly faster to justify the cost? also if you don't mind sharing, what is the part number for the setrab oil cooler that you're using (I purchased rated ms setrab cooler and it's definetly smaller than stock)

Thanks so much

Awesome build! Any possible way to keep the folding top in place or must it be welded to the area beneath the soft top?

To be racing spec , and to actually protect you there is no way to leave the soft top in place , you have to have a 4 point minimum . The benefit of tying in to the rear strut towers is it greatly increases the structural rigidity of the car . With the reinforcement plates and the cross support I added this allowed me to use a true rear coilover suspension . This transforms our cars from a good handling car to one if the best . The guys did a great job of preserving the interior though as you can see .

This is awesome. I've decided that if I still want to keep the car in two year's time I will do a similar build. What harness did you go with? Is it not an issue that the harness bar is so close behind your seat?

It's not as close as it seems in that pic . The important thing is the bar is at the appropriate height to be within manufacture specs for the harness angle. It's a schroth profi 3 with Hans straps .

Is the bar made to SCCA/NASA spec? I think BMWCCA measures from the roll bar to the strut tower for their "broomstick test". Would you have any chance at passing that? Any thoughts about doing a full cage?

It's is 100% to SCCA / NASA spec. With the Recaros my seating position is super low , so even at 6/2 I'm way below a broomstick test . I have no desire to make her a track only car , I enjoy driving on the street to much, but safety is important at the speeds I'm going . With my neck protection , harness and half cage I'm very safe for time trials and DE . If I start wheel to wheel racing that would be a different story of course , but I wouldn't do that with this car .

Very nice. Do you have pics with everything installed but with hard top removed? Ever drive it like that on the street?

Seriously looking into doing this in the future.

Thanks for sharing this build! I really want a z4m but the coupes are so expensive right now. This gives me confidence in getting a roadster and still being able to track it, while still have a vert for fun mountain drives. I noticed you said you were taking it to Roebling. If you still have the car (or dont) and in the Georgia region would love to meet up.
