Aero?

Was looking at some aftermarket parts and I noticed that websites differentiate between Aero and non-Aero models for our cars. What's the difference?

Beautiful Z's Chuck!

That 2nd shot does a great job showing off how aggressive the aero side skirts are. Definitely a future mod for my M coupe.

Chuck I, do the side skirts get dirty because of the design compared to the stock skirts. They look great on your Z by the way.

Chuck I, In your 3rd pic (nose to nose) your nonM sits lower then the M. Has the nonM been lowered, sport suspension, or factory height? Thanks. BTW the car looks great with the aero package/color combo.

The Sterling Gray Z4 has had the Dinan S1 package put on it... It has The Koni struts and springs... so it's been lowered a bit... For some reason, Dinan had to produce custom rear springs for this car because the first 2 sets they put on made the car sit like a dragster... Chuck I

No, I couldn't bring myself to pay what they wanted for it... The front bumper and side sills were "reasonable"... but the rear bumper was just too high for me...

Actually you are talking about the carbon diffuser which is like 600 bux.. The aero rear apron is cheap.

51120150782 $329.00 $0.00 $263.20

I think the aero package looks good, except the front bumper (M bumper looks better), rear apron and rear spoiler.

Well, Chuck_I has already said his Z4 is lowered, but even in stock forms, the regular Z4 sits lower than the Z4M by about 0.5".

True, and the sport package model is 0.5" lower (my understanding) then the standard Z ride height. The difference in height appeared to be much greater then 1" between the cars and I wasn't sure if that was a result of the camera angle/ground or an actual ride height difference. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of Chuck I's Z4 being lowered in this thread.

Yes, the Z4 is lowered... it had the "standard" suspension... When the Dinan package was installed, it dropped about 3/4". It makes my M look like a 4x4 because it appears to sit so high... The only time it bothers me is when I sit them nose to nose... I spent a couple years putting mods on the Z4... Now I start on the M... Hey.. good clean fun! Chuck I

Yes, Lots of "good clean fun!" What mods have you got planned for the M?

Oh man... I put the StrongStrut on right away. I did that because I did notice a difference when I put the Dinan Strut on the Z4.. I really do like the Aero side skirts I have on the Z4, so I am trying to make up my mind whether to move those over to the M or just get another set. Then I'm going to look at the suspension. I spent way too much money doing the Dinan S1 package on the Z4... so on the M, I'm going to had this done locally... on and on... it never stops..... Chuck I
