Purchasing Exhaust
I'm ordering the Oval Pipe Supersprint exhaust for my Z this week. I was just wondering if anyone knows a round number on what installations usually cost for this kind of thing, and what you guys paid? (never did an exhaust mod before)

what the heck is a oval pipe!!! if its the mid pipe that connects the cats to the muffler installation would probably be $100 bucks or so (1 hour of labor). depending on the shop.
i honestly would do it myself. its really not that hard. |

if you're looking at supersprint, you're going to have to purchase the mid-pipe. i'm not sure if that system is weld or bolt-on but assuming it's the latter, it should be a fairly simple install. just have to cut the stock system which is stainless steel so it's sorta a hassle. but installation should be 1-1.5hr labor, and the majority of that time is just getting the car on the lift and having the exhaust sit right.
put car on lift place new system under car to see where it lines up take a sharpie, draw line to cut cut pipes put on stock, bolt-on, slip into hanger make sure it looks even and sits well, tighten bolts you might have to remove the brace and reinforcement plates, dont recall. but fyi that system is going to be loud. the stock mid-pipe has a resonator which is being replaced with a straight pipe. no resonator + louder muffler = drone. |

Yes, i mean oval tip. It happens to be significantly cheaper than the two round tips, as I'm looking to save money and get a new muffler. So this wont be okay if i dont buy the midpipe?

nope, look at the design of the muffler and read the description. it says its meant to work with their midpipe and provides a part number.
the stock muffler uses dual inlets. all supersprint uses a single inlet pipe so you have to use it in conjunction with their 2-in-1 midpipe so it connects up. and on the stock pipe, you see a resonator to keep sound down. |
