303 Convertible Top Cleaner and Fabric Guard
Just dropping a line to let you guys know I bought the 303 Convertible Top Cleaner and Fabric Guard kit. It was $5 cheaper than Raggtop and just as good if not better. It's made by 3M.
The way I applied the product: I wet the top with a hose to loosen any dirt. Then I sprayed a liberal amount of cleaner all over the top. I used a terry cloth to scrub the top and get it nice and clean. I then proceeded to wash the car while letting the top dry out a little bit. By the time I was done washing the car, the top was almost dry. I sprayed the fabric guard all over the top and used another terry cloth to spread it all around evenly. Once it was dry, I tested it by pouring a couple of drops of water onto the top. The drops beaded up like oil in a skillet. Simply amazing. And the top is much blacker and looks virtually brand new. No joke. Best $25 I've spent in a very long time. Here's a link in case you are interested - http://www.amazon.com/303-Fabric-Con.../dp/B000A8JNF0 |

I agree! I use 303 on mine as well, and the water beads up like crazy and runs right off. |

I've been using the BMW stuff and haven't noticed any difference before/after applying the repellent, so I've been considering trying something else, either 303 or RaggTop.
I'm very weary of using anything non-OEM. So I've been hitting the web finding info. I found this quote repeated over and over, but haven't found a source: "Porsche Tequipment Cabrio Top Protectant and 303 High Tech Fabric Guard did not pass all of Haartz Corporation's tests and are not approved by Haartz or R & S." Anyone have a source of info from the actual manufacturers? There's an amazon review that says that Haartz recommended 303 previously, and only started recommending RaggTop a few years ago (perhaps they're getting paid). I did find this post that seems to corroborate that they recommended 303 previously. While searching I also found more people happy with 303 than with RaggTop.

I got a chance to try this out yesterday.
The cleaner worked great. Here's a picture after letting it dry for a few hours, at this point I had finished masking it and was just about to apply fabric guard: And this is what it looked like after I let it dry overnight:

Nice.....need to do mine soon! Can't find 303 or compatible product locally, and shipping from the states is killer! Need to find a local alternative I guess!
