Apparently BMW does not consider the E85/E86 Ms ///Ms...

And quite frankly, I'm starting to be okay with that.

Not a single Z4 M in this video. Roadster or coupe otherwise.

Apologize in advance if this is a repost.

That whole deal stunk. They sent notices out to those that had previously registered for Bimmerfest East inquiring if they could be there a day early and if they were interested in their car being in a commercial. I thought COOL! I was planning on being there the day before anyway so I sent in my registration and some pics. I got a brief email back that my E85 wasn't exactly what they were looking for, but no biggy.
They filmed the commercial on Friday at Ripken stadium in the parking lot. My hotel was nearby so I stopped in and watched for a while. They took a bunch of takes to get all the film they wanted, so it was a couple hours of burning up tires on that parking lot. The next day they closed the event down early and kicked everyone out because a couple people did a burn out in the back of the parking lot. For 2015 they moved to New Jersey supposedly because of the burn outs?

You know, these kinds of vids in my honest opinion, promote a very bad image of BMW. I wouldn't have let them use my e86 for that vid if they asked me. Doing burnouts in public places (its a car park) is just stupid, under controlled conditions or not will inspire kids to do the same in uncontrolled conditions.

I wonder why BMW leaves out the z4m but includes the z3m. It isn't the first time that they've done that.

Agreed

One of the most intriguing vehicles in the M line-up by most car enthusiast standards. It is odd to see it left out so often.

BINGO.

Says a lot more about BMW and where they're going, IMO.

And why I won't buy another one unless they dramatically change direction, which I doubt will happen. The only thing I'd consider is the 1M,which is hardly new or part of what the brand is today. I had a chance to grab one a 1M couple of years ago, didn't, and regret it. Yes, it's a turbo, but it's fun to drive, reasonably light, playful, it communicates well with the driver, and has a bit of an edge. Did I mention fun? Did I mention communicate?

This Car and Driver interview with the CNO (Chief Numbness Officer) in charge of their EPS (electronic steering) actually made me actually feel a bit ill.

I'm really not surprised the Z4M was left out as an ///M--it's everything they aspire not to be these days. Which is a sad thing, as it's the brand I wanted to own most in my younger (and broke) years, precisely because of the feel and communication the brand prized. (I had the chance to drive a E36 M3 and a Z3 long before I could think of buying one, the feel, the communication--it left me wanting more of that.) After watching this road jack***ery that looks like a nightmare Cars and Coffee crash initiation, I'm okay with our car being left out it too.

In retrospect, the less they are promoted the less likely people are to recognize the car which in turn makes it a hidden jewel among a a pile of stones

To be frank, I'm quite offended - and my car is not even an M. At least when I pop into my local dealer, the gang there are true enthusiasts and I get a warm reception and lots of talk about my car. Very sad that BMW at the corporate level does not share this view.

The clowshoe Z3 and Z4 don't get the credit they deserve especially the M variants.

To me they are the nicest ones they have.

Agreed. I'm also an e46 m3 fan but the z3m and z4m cars are the most visceral and demanding m cars that they've produced for mass consumption. Those characteristics in a tidy front engine/rwd layout is what I'm after.

Minority I guess but I thought it was neat vid but yeah f those guys for leaving our baby out, they've clearly forgotten about more than the Z4 if they think fwd and active sound are OK

Friendly reminder that the i8's left "muffler" is a speaker. Not kidding.

M or not, it's a unique car with interesting and communicative characteristics! Things we prize.

Absolutely agree. And consider - my car is ten years old and STILL getting compliments. Just last week my kid had a buddy over and they begged for some McDonalds so I drove over in the SI to pick some up. As I was waiting for my order to come up, the manager of the place came over and complimented my on the car, noting that half his staff were admiring it out the take out window. Actually made me feel good about buying McDonalds!

ive driven e36, e46, e92 m3s and now i own z4m.
For me is the best for me. Its challenging, its raw, its connected to you, it has the power, the sharpness, etc.
I actually love that people dont have much expectations nor consider z4 and M car.
Makes people more surprised when they see me on their ass at the track haha.
I had few people come to me, and ask if I had supercharger or if I was running slicks.
People will never understand the joy I have when i am driving at the track....its the car that makes me wanna go every weekend, unlike others.
Not saying the rest are trash. I would own all of them, but z4m for me is a complete package.

For the most part, I liked the video (as much as other similar ones I've seen from other manufacturers). I really wonder what is up with the lack of recognition of Z4's though.

In my mind, no automotive commercial stands up to the Ferrari/Shell commercial though.
