07 Z4 Value ?

Sorry about such a lame 2nd post , but here goes.

I'm looking at a couple of 2007 Z4 3.0s.
- Both are CPO in great cosmetic condition
- Both are Silver with Black leather
- Both have power seats and power roof
- Both have alloy interior trim
- One has 21,000 Miles ... One has 43,000 miles

What should these cars sell for ?

kbb.org and nada.org could answer those questions. Scour craigslist, ebay, cars.com, and autotrader.com. Find cars similar to the ones you listed and see what the asking prices are. This should give you a good idea. In the end, a car is only worth as much as what someone is willing to pay for it. Good luck.

I find NADA and Edmunds to be most reliable, so check those, as said above. From what I've seen, both would be in the low-to-mid 20s, though I've seen some optimistic dealers asking for more.

Garage List
2022 M5CS  [0.00]
2001 BMW 740i  [0.00]
2006 BMW M Roadster  [0.00]
2012 BMW X6 3.5i  [0.00]
2006 BMW 325xi  [0.00]
2017 BMW 540xi  [0.00]
2000 BMW M5  [0.00]
2001 BMW X5 4.4i  [0.00]
I've found Book values to be somewhat different than actual market rates. I would check autotrader.com, cars.com and ebay.com to see what people are pricing these cars for. That should help in addition to Edmunds, KBB, NADA, etc.

Internet based book values are all over the map :
- Edmunds CPO @ $ 26,162
- KBB @ $ 30,1xx

This spread is discouraging , I think I need to disregard anything KBB says.

My answer was intentionally vague. It's hard to gauge by the description provided. Many variables like condition, maintenance schedules, sale location, etc. You really just have to cast a net over a few state area around you to get a clue on a fair price point. Prices to me seem to be in a state of flux by a few K on these right now. One guy's "good deal" is another's "how'd you score that price?". I think given the window of opportunity on getting this car right now, if you score one that's in very good shape for $25-29, then you're not getting a bad deal. I paid 29k for mine a couple of months ago with 35k miles, very good condition, and I'm happy. It was $2-3k less than other comparable ones offered by dealers (a condition of my loan) in OR, CA, NV, and AZ at the time I bought it. I've heard of others paying a little less than me, but I'm ok with what I paid.

The 21,000 mile car is perfect , looks like it's never been out of the garage.

It's not a sport / premium , just leather , power seats , power top.

Right now it looks doubtful that I can get it for less than $ 26,500

But I'm OK letting it go , there are plenty out there.

Oh wait, just noticed you're talking a 3.0... I think $26.5 seems maybe a touch high... I missed that and thought we were talking M's. Not sure how much weight you put on a sound system... it's important to me, and I didn't want one without premium sound. If that one were loaded I'd say it might be worth it, but not if it's not optioned up. Maybe in TX not as important to you, but for me seat heaters were also a absolute must. I know you guys get some good cold in the winters, and heated seats make a TON of difference.

In TX I would think you could easily find a good 07 Z4 3.0i(I assume you are looking at an i?) for low 20's. There are frequently ads on AT with good examples. TX seems to be a good location for car deals from what I have seen over the years. Don't be afraid to low ball. Used cars are on a high right now so it may not be the best time to be looking. Also you are right in the middle of convertible season.

Yes , I'm looking at 3.0i cars and Yes , Texas is usually a buyers market but the market seems to be overheated right now.

I'm not afraid to low ball , I've already been there on this car and letting it simmer a little here at the end of the month.

Not so sure it's convertible season in Houston , It's HOT ! ... When I had my S2000 , I kept the top down in the spring and fall but the hardtop went on for our 30 day winter and 120 day summer.

Yeah, it's definitely cookin' here in Texas but it's not THAT bad. I ride my motorcycle to work most of the time and riding home in the 100+ degree heat at 5pm is just a notch below unbearable - but still doable. However, I suppose if I did drive my roadster to work, I'd probably keep the top up on the way home from work and enjoy that cold AC!

Very much so. My last car before my M had heated seats and I made damn sure my next car was going to have them. It's one of those things you really don't want to live without once you have them.

Agreed , I used the ones in my old Tahoe as a heating pad ( for my sore back )

The other day I got in my 4Runner and could not get cooled off , after a few minutes I discovered that my daughter turned on the heated seats to max.

I'll add heated seats to my Z4 preferred equipment list

I'd rather have a clean car with excellent maintenance history then heated seats. Just saying. heated seats seem like a nice to have, not to mention they make you feel like you pee'd your pants when they're on.

And a car is worth what you'll pay for it. Some options and colors etc are worth more to some people than others. If you think a car is too high than naggle and if there is no luck in a lower price than walk away. I don't understand when people ask forums prices on cars... 1) why would we tell it's worth less... we generally (as owners of these cars) want them to be worth MORE money and 2) it's not like our opinions will sync up with your logic and what you want in a car or furthermore the seller's perspective of what he/she thinks the cars worth. Last I still think certain areas of the country yield different prices for these types of cars. Living SoCal vs. living in Middle of Ohio is a completely different market and hence will probably play into the threshold you're willing to work with for options, colors, mileage, etc at a given price point. Unless you're that willing to pay for shipping a car and traveling far to check it out.

I dunno about that. Heated seats in a ragtop make all the difference pretty often here in the Bay Area. There are many times the top would stay up if not for the heated seats... many. I didn't buy a convertible for top-up driving, so they're an absolute must for me.

Pulled the trigger on the 20,000 mile car.

It was the end of the month , I made an offer , we were miles apart , I would not move off my offer , they tried and tried to whittle me up , but I never moved , we finally got the deal done.

The car is perfect and my wife loves it

It's all Good

Don't forget guys used cars right now are at a 16 year high.

Our used cars are gaining value. Just a few months ago my smart would garner 10k now its up to 13.

We are also seeing this at the auctions, the cars my father buys at auctions to fill his spare spots on his dealer lot are fetching higher premiums.

Houses loosing money

Used cars appreciating

Dogs and cats living together
It's complete crazy out their..
