08 M3 or 08 Z4M Coupe??
I posted this in m3forums but thought I'd also ask the other M owners over here...
ohkay, so I'm a leaser - I plan on leasing the M3 for abouts $1,000/month which on my salary is perfectly doable and livable but not a necessarily financially sound decision. Although, that never stopped me before with my last 2 M3's For the last 2 years I've been in LOVE with the M Coupe and always wanted it but never went for it because I knew the M3 would be just a few grand more and thats the car I really want and have been waiting for. But now - BMW is offering lease superdeals where I could get the M coupe for not $900/month, but $559!! That's pretty much half the payment of what the M3 would be! And as if the lease offer wasn't good enough - BMW is also offering $3,500 cash to dealer for the M coupe which I've confirmed can be tacked on to the lease deal, lowering the payment even more. Now I'm completely torn, do I go for the deal and the amazing (sexy) M coupe for half the price, saving tons of money. Or do I wait, pay double, and get the ultra fast, completely heavenly, more practical M3 that I've always wanted and have been waiting for? I need help, I can't decide!

get the M3. i wish i would have waited. bigger/better engine + better technology + more practical. the Z4Ms are very tempting but you will beat yourself in the head when you see the new M3 in the wild.

I say M Coupé. Can't beat the lease deal for a spectacular car.
Although tempting, I would leave the M3 alone for a couple of years until they have some (any) of the bugs worked out. By 2010/2011, you can decide whether to keep the rare M Coupé or switch to the M3. Or... something else that's even better by that time. |

It's a difference of about $500/month, or $19,500 over the lease term. That's a lot of money to keep in the pocket.
It's also a difference of almost 100hp, back seats, EDC, iDrive, M drive, comfort access, and a carbon fiber roof. my brain is about to explode...

I'd say M3 since you said you dont have a problem with the payment, and your already driving a 3 series. since your leasing, any first year problems are no big deal since your not buying the car. I've never leased before, but why is the payment so expensive for the M3? or is it the term of the lease? good luck with your decsion

If you want a fun and fast ride everytime you get in the car get a Z, if you want to be practical and boring sometimes get the M3. I would be torn as well, but only because the M3 is drivable in the snow and my Z isn't. Otherwise I would go M Coupe hands down just because it is so fun to drive.

That is not what I am saying, I am saying the cars are both fast but the MC is definitely more of a sports car, more fun to do "spirited" driving. It is all it is built for. On the other hand the M3 is built to be an entusist car no doubt, but it is more practical for people with families/pets, it has 4 seats... not a real sports car IMO. edit: and yes, I think all 3 series look boring compared to an MC.

If you want a backseat and a more practical car you should get the M3 if the money you'd be spending doesn't bother you. If you don't need the backseat, get the M Coupe. The new M3 is great, but it's not nearly half as sexy the M Coupe.

DITTO!!!! The worst thing about the M3 is that it's boring looking. I mean it looks nice, but not nearly as hot as the E46 M3 IMO!!

M Coupe, and then a another car for the winter. I like having two options when walking to the garage. I originally was debating M5/E63 and decided on the M Coupe and a 335 xi. The M Coupe will perform within tenths of a second of the new M3, for a significant discount. I am considering an M3 for 2 years down the road, when the bugs have been worked out, and the DSG trans is worked out. As for now, the M Coupe provides a very pleasant, visceral driving experience, for a hell of alot less than 1k per month.

My vote would be on the M coupe... and hey, if you decide to keep the car, ESS is coming out wiht a 450hp SC kit that'll give the new M3 a run for its money.
Z4M also weighs less than the M3 so you also have power to weight ratio on your side. Unless you're a fat ass... Then you need the new bigger engine to haul your fatness around... |

i'm a roadster person myself...
the only cars i'll drive/buy have only two seats and a ragtop... 4 seats+ is for the wife. also, i like the idea of saving $500 per month, and the fact that there are so few M roadsters/coupes around, therefore making our M's feel more exclusive. i'm guessing like the previous M3, there will be quite a few of the NEW M3s on the road... |
