07 Z4MC keyless entry problem

So I just bought my Z4MC (traded a z4 roadster) and I am kinda having some major problems with keyless entry being really janky.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Then it works great, then not at all and I have to insert the key. Issue is coming up with both keys.

What do u guys think? Could the key batteries be going dead? Reprogram the keys (which seems unlikely since it occasionally works)?

My previous z4 was definitely not great on keyless entry, but this seems way worse.

Thoughts appreciated.

keyless entry?? you mean pressing the button on the key fob to open the central locking system?

anyhow the z4m charges its key whilst in the ignition, so your key should be nicely charged for opening and closing the door, try replacing the battery and see what happens ;-)

I don't think the batteries in our keys are replaceable unless you actually cut the key open. There are a few forums describing this procedure in detail. You may want to try the following before replacing the battery:

Yes - by keyless entry I mean not inserting the key to enter the car. That is pushing the button on the key. Correct.

I did not know or expect that the battery in our keys is rechargeable. That is quite surprising.

This one seems to have worked:

Quote:
1. turn key to position 1 five times very quickly
2. remove key
3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button. (The door locks should cycle to let you know it worked)
4. Repeat step 3 for other keys within 30 seconds to initialize them too.
5. turn on igntion to finalize

One of my keys died about 2 days after I got my car. If you don't use them I think they die quicker.
