OEM M wheels on non-M

I'm sure this has been asked before, but my search is turning up nothing. Do the stock Z4 M wheels fit and look good on a pre-facelift 3.0i? My car is not currently lowered, but I will be putting a small drop on it soon due to a broken rear spring (either H&R sport springs or coilovers at the highest setting).

Stock 3.0i wheels: Style 107
F 18x8 et47 225/40/18
R 18x8.5 et50 255/35/18

Stock Z4 M wheels: Style 224m
F 18x8 et42 225/45/18
R 18x9 et30 255/40/18

The Fronts will swap just fine, with the M wheels extending out an extra 5mm. I'm worried about the rears though. They will extend out an extra 26mm, plus the beefier tires will add another 1" to the diameter. Will I run into any rubbing issues on the rear?

I'm sure this has been done, so if anyone has pictures that would be appreciated.

Hey, I'm not sure 100% about fit/rubbing but I've recently swapped out my stock M wheels for another brand. I noticed you're located in MA, you're welcome to put my M wheels on and take them for a test rip.

I just did this on my 2003 z4 3.0L Sport. Stock z4M type 224 wheels can be swapped with your style 107 wheels using stock Z4 3.0L tires staggered. What will probably cause some rubbing issue, if if you use the 224 M wheels with stock Z4 M tires on your non-M. SO the answer is :

Swap 224 wheels with your 107 and use the stock tire sizes you have right now on your 107's. This will keep the wheel diameter the same. The offset is slightly more aggressive so your rear wheels will sit flush with the fender, looks great. I love them

Thanks SloMo. Nice picture btw.

anthony: Thanks for the offer, I'll wait until I actually replace my springs first. Makes more sense to see what kind of drop I get then find rims that fit. Are you looking to sell them by any chance?

Whatever drop works for your current wheels should work for the 224 wheels as long as you use your current tire size on them. The diameter of the wheel should stay the same. Just don't use the M tires on your car. Goodluck! I'm sure you'll love the look.

Sure, makes sense about fit and style. I'd sell them, They're just sitting now so i'm not actively looking to unload them. they've got Michelin PSS with plenty of meat left. But that offer still stands, you're welcome to see firsthand if you really dig them.

Do they fit? Sort of. Will it look good? That's subjective. You're removing almost an inch's worth of clearance to the fenders in the rear, even with the right aspect ratio tires.

If you do nothing else, you will have significantly widened the rear track without doing anything for the front. If you want to keep a moderately "matching" increase to the front, you'll need to run a 25mm spacer which means it should probably be bolted to the hub, and the wheels bolted to the spacer. Both will likely make it likely to rub the fenders on a lowered suspension.

The best way to go about doing it, is to square it up and get 4 front wheels from the MZ4 rather than run the MZ4 offset on a stock Z4.

I only ran 15mm (longer bolts and hubcentric) spacers up front on my 3.0i with the staggered M wheels. I did want to upgrade to all rears though. They will fit fine. I didn't have to roll my fenders. If you run rears up front, it might be safe to roll the fenders a little if you are gonna stick with 225 width tires.

Good Luck!
and btw, they also look just fine at stock ride height.
