Velocity Adventures HPDE @ H2R, Sat 21 Aug
Any novices like me who will be going? I found out about the event at what is probably the nearest racetrack for me - Harris Hill Road. Registered at the last minute!
I'll be sure to take some videos and pictures, and the lineup of cars attending seems promising. I am the only bimmer who's going to be there right now! |

the way an ///M was meant to be driven
what an absolute blast! not really sure where on earth to start, but if u haven't attended an hpde, get on it! by far the best investment on improving/enhancing my driving experience while exploring what the m cars are all about.
my car's fully stock save for a zeckhausen cdv (did not really need this either since gear changes were at a minimum on this tightly wound, curvy road track), and performed admirably considering the total of 4 22-minute sessions i ran. my instructor was very direct and owns a z3m roadster himself, so was familiar with bmw m cars and their performance pedigree. i blasted past all the big and heavy camaros (10 showed up from the san antonio based camaro5 club) with ease indeed. just a few pictures, too many to resize and upload! didn't manage to get in car video (no secure attachment for my point-and-shoot). |

AWESOME! I'm pretty jealous that I wasn't able to go. Sounds like you had a blast driving and learned a lot.

perhaps the most worthwhile experience of an hpde was discovering more about ur car and its limits. in stock form, the z4m coupe already has loads of grip, minimal body roll with good suspension, good brakes (the camaros especially were all struggling with their brakes), decent torque (this was probably where i felt most lacking in the low end) and great steering response. unfortunately, the understeer history becomes noticeable on the track, and shifts are also difficult to master with the notchy gearbox in the lower gears. needs more practice!
the next hpde is the weekend before thanksgiving in november, and will be at h2r again. i will not be attending though! |

I'll have to jump on one of these coming up...or wait until next spring/summer.
That red car next to you...is that the Noble? I've never heard of that car before. and it looks like kids with it???

the next velocity adventures hpde is saturday, 20th nov 2010 at h2r again. full day event for all classes of drivers and will include breakfast and lunch. pretty sure it'll run the same format of 4 sessions, 22 minutes each, with a dedicated instructor who is usually a member of the track itself.
the gorgeous red car next to me is indeed a noble - m12 gt3r to be exact. pristine condition with less than 10,000 miles, owner is middle aged and very prim. he owns other exotics but uses the noble exclusively at the track. those kids came in their parent's camaros, so they DEFINITELY have nothing to do with a noble supercar. |
