N52 3.0Si Valve cover Gasket

After reading few DIY's I am finally going to replace the valve cover gasket along with the valvtronic motor seal.
For those of you who have done it, I have 2 questions for you:

1-Did you have to re-learn the ECU after removing the valvtronic motor to replace the seal?
2-I noticed some DIY's insists on removing the battery negative terminal, Is it because they're afraid of shorting wires? or are there other reasons?

I hope the radio doesn't ask for a code after the battery terminal has been disconnected.

I don't think the radio will ask for a code after disconnecting the battery. It didn't when I disconnected my battery.

Great, thank you SDCoupe.

So does anyone know if you have to re-learn the ECU after removing the valvtronic motor?
Do I need to disconnect the negative terminal?

Thanks
