Want to Sell Me the Foam in Your Sound Generator?

I removed the front piece a while back, lost the piece over time. Thinking of putting back in, but before I run off to HD and look for a sponge brush that I can tear apart, figured I'd see if anyone wanted to get rid of theirs. Would cover postage + nominal fee =D

Please PM me...

What is the benefit of removing? I am not even sure where this piece even is.

Sound engineers placed this hardware to get the right tone in the cabin. There's 2 foam pieces in there, remove either one and you get more intake and motor noise. Sounds great during warmer months or when car is warmed up. But when the car is cold, you get a lot of raw mechanical noise. For this reason I'm toying with putting a small (partial) piece back in.

How do you remove the foam? I have an '07 3.0i with the N52 engine and I could not find it. Thanks.

I removed mine for 10 seconds, it makes your car sound like a vacuum cleaner.

agreed, i'll try to do a quick vid of how it sounds from the cabin. i remember when i was at summit, my instructor asked if i had an intake because it sounded so good -- and this was driving with both windows down lol

as always, different strokes for different...I hated it the whiny high pitch sound.

I loved my Z4 and miss it.
