BMW cap cover for headlight jet washer popped

Anybody experience the same? My cap cover for headlight jet washer on bmw z4m coupe popped during a country drive!!!

What does this cost? Does it come already pre-painted?

Thanks
Sergio

GetBMWParts.com has it for 16.97 USD. Description says "paint to match" and I'm not sure what that means (as in you paint to match or they paint to match).

Did it just fly off or did you use the windscreen washer spray or wipers at some point in the drive? (This is why most of us disconnect the headlight washer motor or pull the fuse.)

They come primed ready to paint.
I just ordered one to replace one as well.
It was back ordered so I made my own covers.

I did not use them, they were there in morning and done at night

Drove for 2hrs on day they went missing in action

17$ is reasonable for part

Who is best supplier for paint match? Do I need to apply clear coat also?

Thanks

came off on the freeway.

I removed my squirters previously so just painted some covers that I cut out of a piece of plastic.
They're only temporary until I can get the holes filled later.

lol I just lost one of my caps (on the driver side) during track day yesterday what're the odds...

I had to dodge an unskilled driver to prevent an accident, and ate a cone that was on the edge of a relatively high-speed kink. Put a hole in my front bumper mesh, and probably knocked my spray nozzle cover loose shortly after

I had one fall off once. Dealer said it was covered under warranty but kept asking me if I pried it off with my hands? Waited a couple days so they could paint it first but it doesn't match at all.

That's when mine came off as well..... On the way home.
It'll be great to get these things filled in & be done with them.

Is that covered in the videos you posted?

On the plus side, I guess it could have much worse!

Unfortunately, no. I think the GoPro was already low on battery or something, and didn't record like I thought it was

I never thought about filling these washer holes the last time I had my front bumper redone through insurance
Hopefully someone ruins my front bumper so I can do it all over again

So just lost one today drivers side - damn it! Wish they came painted. Question: is the driver's side considered left or right for the part?

In the US we have left-hand drive cars and in the UK they have right-hand drive cars. That should answer your question.

walked into that one let me re-phrase:

is the part number for the driver's side replacement cover considered 51117078262 (right) or 51117078261 (left)

Same thing just happened to me this morning, was cruising from Naples to Miami and the car ahead of me ran over a shredded tire and I swerved for it not to hit me, but it did and popped the cover off. Not complaining, know I am lucky it didn't f up my bumper.

Oh well, will get the part, have it painted and then take off the fuse, though it really had nothing to do with using them. I am also thinking about filling them in, once I decided to repaint the bumper to get rid of some of that road rash. Thanks for the above posts, easy to find a solution!

It's always from the seated in car perspective.
Drivers =left side = .......261

Yep. #40 and your worries are gone.

There is even a little guide inside the fuse box to confirm.

Thanks Kgolf31. Since I just bought the car in November I had to look for the fuse box.

I wonder who the rocket scientist was that hid it behind the glove box. Lots of room under the hood but instead you need to be a 4 foot tall contortionist to even go there.

Just don't understand how you can make such a fabulous car and then do something like that.

If I need to squirt my windshield, I just make sure my headlights are off first that way the headlight washers don't come on when you hit your windshield washers. Yes, I know this technique isn't great for after-dark applications but the rest of the day it works just fine...
