Do you know if the car has always run the blue BMW coolant? If the wrong long life coolant has been used there is a possibility of sediment and precipitation of salts out of the coolant if incompatible types are mixed. This can lead to a clogged radiator.

No, when the flush was done green came out and green went in. I'm pretty sure it was prestone and I used prestone universal coolent to fill the tank when I had leaks from bleeding. Think it may have made a difference?

Non-BMW coolant (or aftermarket equivalent) can definitely cause problems. Prestone or most "green" coolants are not phosphate free and can cause corrosion and/or precipitation problems in BMW cooling systems. I would suggest inspecting the radiator for clogged cooling tubes.

Hmmm... sounds like a solution to my problem. Just might fork out the cash for a new radiator. A few hundreds bucks wont break the bank and i get a new radiator. Im going to order one now and see if this is the issue. Ill post up as soon as its installed.

So just finished installing a new radiator and another water pump (the one I had previously installed was broken and the first had a bit of play in it). Cut open the radiator and it was clogged up worse than the DMV. What was the original culprit? The world may never know. Either my use of prestone vs the original blue coolant, just a freak thing of high miles on my car, a bad coolant flush who knows. And what was the gran total spent this time around? $740 out the door. Bit expensive but peace of mind knowing its not a head gasket or a cracked head. Hope my posts are helpful to anyone that might go through something similar.

Very helpful. Following BMW's recommended fluids (motor, rad, diff etc) is proving to be more important than ever (as aerobod mentioned above).

yup, looks that way. I think my ignorance was the one at fault and the main cause of this headache. I always question when someone tells me to use only a certain product for something when a plethora of other products are more readily available and often cheaper. In this case I was dead wrong in assuming "universal antifreeze" would be an ok choice.
Live and learn.
