They wont fit, different shape I believe, hence a "facelift" Also the pre-06/07 tails have that split in the middle where as the facelifted one is one piece tail.

I believe the question was whether they are a direct fit, which they aren't because it requires swapping the bumper as well. Anything can be fitted as long as you're willing to do whatever it takes to get them fit.
On a side note i actually really like that tail, and that CF diffuser never really liked the tail until seeing that picture. |

i actually just purchased my 06 tail lights to go on my 04, aside from the rear bumper replacement they seem to fit right in, although the wires are gonna need to be fidled with, oh boy, this will be fun. anyone here have any experience with this mod?

I have an 03 Z4 with original rear lights....and i really dont like the amber turn signals anywhere....i went to the dealership to get an estimate on converting by HID to bi-xenon w/ clear blinker from an 05 model and it came out to $2,600 plus installation and taxes for the front lights alone....let me know how successful you are on the rear light conversion attempt

I think that's normal, my car you can see a slight gap around the rim of the tail lights. And my car came from the factory like that. I think its normal? Here are two shots of my tails. Hope it helps you.
