How much difference AFE intake makes in terms of getting horses/performance?

This is a very hot topic and there is a ton of threads about it. I can't say if it made more power or not because I only have an "after" dyno but I can say my car made 306rwhp with my mods and that same day a E46 M3 with an exhaust put down 279 rwhp. I still maintain that it make a tiny bit of power but it is mostly worth it for the sound it makes.

surprised this is still for sale! intake will not yield much rwhp gains, if any, but a noticeable improvement in throttle response. like f360c stated, it's mainly for engine sound improvement, and it's marked enough to become addictive.

free bump. AFE owner here. hp debate is always there, but paired up with the RPI scoop, the setup definitely improves throttle response and the noise it makes for the price is phenomenal.

No... I am keeping the RPI scoop. It will provide me with a small HP bump until I figure out this CSL intake. Once I have the CSL intake it will still help push fresh air into the engine bay

I know this is not related, hope you don't mind but what did you do to your valve cover? It appears yours is smooth and doesn't have the rough look to it anymore.
