Space available M coupe for offset changes

In order to allow use of all the offset calculators for any size wheels (17,18,19") the original offsets are F - 8" ET 42 and R - 9" ET 30. so I would really like to know how much space actually is available inside and outside front and rear so there is no rubbing with stock suspension.

May sound weird and I suppose I could go and measure the car but I am sure someone has done it more accurately than I

It would be great to know how many MM you can go in and out without rubbing - even with 10 mm clearance which is a little more than 1/4" so you can do the calculations.

Thanks to Anyone

Not to sound too simplistic here but I think the easiest is to kind of say what the "max" (subjective, I know) sizing we can run is, and from there one could scale back if need be.

To help, I think most Z4M guys run 18s. Some 19s, but it's similar either way.

For an 18" setup, the "near-absolute-max" size one can run in the front is 18x9.5 +35 on a 245/40 or a 255/35. This also depends on a camber setup, but that greatly increases one's ability to stuff something a little bigger (ie. a 10" wheel or a 275/35 tire) in the front fender. Expect rubbing and to have to do fender mods. The reason I say +35 is because even a 9.5" +38 wheel will contact the strut, I think.

In the rear, the generally accepted "max size" would be 18x10.5 +22 on a 275/35/18. One can go bigger, but expect to have to raise the car slightly, run a stiffer rear shock/spring combo, roll the fender, camber arms, etc etc. At 10.5" wide and +22 offset, we are getting close to the inside max width as well. I don't expect an 11" +20 to fit without rubbing the inner fender liner thingy... lol.

Anyone else care to chime in?

SO if I wanted to run 8.5" in front and 10" in the rear what range would be the best offsets cause its the same for 18" or 19"??

I think F ET36 +- 5 and R ET 20+-5 ?? OR larger >?

This is what I am going with. Existing = OEM dimensions, New = New.

Front: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=38#content

Rear: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=32#content

Fronts shouldn't be a problem, But I don't know about the inner clearance in the back. Might have to go with 5 mm spacers there. Also I haven't decided if I'm going with the OEM tire height (45 and 40) or go down 5 mm (40 and 35).

8.5" in front is nice and conservative and I would run a 245/35/19 on a +30 or so for nice, proper fitment (no rubbing anywhere I bet and still more flush than stock). In the rear, +20 is just fine. +25 is ideal on a 10" wheel. It's what my CCWs are. They are 18" though, but this should give you a good idea. Use a 275/30/19 instead of a 35 aspect ratio. The car will naturally sit slightly higher on a 19" wheel, so I find it's a good idea to run a slightly skinnier tire so you can still go nice and low Not that I'm there yet. Much work still to be done and too busy with real life to do it just yet.

This is a 10.5" +22 on a 275/35/18 in the rear and a 9.5" +35 on a 265/35/18 in the front. The front is at approx. 3* of camber. It was drivable.

My M Coupe still has OE suspension. Front tire's rim protector rubbed on the strut when going to 265 tires on 9.5 wheels.

Details and pictures captured at kklin's Z4 M Coupe for SCCA BSP (road tire). You'll have to do the math for your setup. As I noted, the tire sidewall's profile mattered in my case.
