Putting my Z4M on the track

I just bought a 2006 Z4 M roadster and I want to start doing some track days. I have two friends who do track days with their clubs, but I was also interested in learning more about autocross or SCCA events.
Any advice on where to start for a beginner?
Will the convertible top be a problem? I know my friends that track with their clubs couldn't allow my 1997 Z3 convertible on the track because it had no rollover protection (no hoops until late 1997 models.)
I live in Georgia, if that matters.

I appreciate any info,
Mike
