Headers for z4 3.0si N52 engine ????

Hi,

I'm looking for headers for my z4 3.0si (2007), but ebay's sellers seem to have only headers for 3.0 before 2006.

So is there someone who knows a great seller for headers for a N52 engine??

Thank you

Are you saying that a header for an M54 motor will fit on an N52 ??? While I guess this isn't impossible, I would be pretty surprised if this were the case.

As with most questions having to do with N52 engine mods, I think the answers are:

1. Little is available, and if it is it usually doesn't produce much in the way of power.
2. If something is available it will have been developed for the E90 3-series cars which share the N52, but have a much larger population. If this is the case then our sister-forum of E90post (and its NA engine mods subforum) wold be the place to look.

Like Vachss said, check e90post N/A tuning section. A member by the name of Craven328 successfully installed headers on his n52 but it was not a direct fit and took some fabrication work, but the price he was offering them at were pretty competitive. But if you want to save yourself headache and want a more direct fit install, check out supersprintna.com, they offered headers for the n52 for the Z4 but were $1600. And I was told by the tech that even that, w/o purchasing their high flow cats would need an exhaust shop to get an adapter - not a big deal, just annoying that for the money, you still have to do a little fudging.

All this but still won't be able to get past the CEL. I know Active Autowerks has a tune for the n52 and they asid they're looking to incorporate a CEL delete in the future but nothing as of yet.

If there are cats in the stock headers (and it sounds like there are because of the SES light), headers should yield moderate power gains.

I put a rpi scoop bought to ca.automotive.
It is the Z4m model, but compatible with 3.0si.

I plan to test my car on dyno this week end.

Nada which is why I'm a bit skeptical. I'm sure there are gains to be had but for the price they're asking might not be worth it. There was a thread on e90post about a race team building their car up (n52 based) and they expressed the same concerns on the SS headers. SS does dyno their other headers but none for n52..., makes you wonder

Scoops like throttle bodies are a hot commodity but are a total waste imo, it's a small mod that gets people hopeful but let's be real, if there are any gains it'll be a few hp at such high rpms you wouldn't even know it's there. I'd rather get the AA tune and call it a day...

You might be able to get around it by relocating the secondary O2s to post-secondary cats like some of the M guys do. I don't know if this would work, or even if the N52 has two sets of cats like the S54.

We will most likely be installing a set of Supersprint headers on our race car (2007 Z4 3.0si). It'll be a full race setup with no cats and a race muffler (not sure which muffler yet).
I'll let you know in the next couple weeks when we install them. Picked them up "used" (never installed) from one of Bimmerworks customers.

Awesome. I can't wait to see what kind of performance bump you guys get. How much did you pick it up for?

I've pretty much given up hopes of getting any extra useful HP out of my 3.0si. I just put in an AFE intake. It sounds a bit better. A new exhaust system is next. That should make it sound a lot better but not faster. If I still want faster in a few years, I'm thinking of picking up a used M3. But after getting my Z back on the road this spring, I can honestly say I love driving around in my little roadster.

I've an AFE intake on the way and will install a REMUS muffler when it's back in stock. I've run s/c BMW's (S54's, S52's, M54's) and hands down are the best bang for the buck. However I know my 3.0si will always be NA. That said, software, intake, and exhaust is about where it will end for most of us. A header in order to do any real good needs to be coupled with higher flow cats etc. The $2300 is only the beginning....

Supersprint NA has them for $1726. Their prices just recently went way down.

Nice! May need to consider down the road. I'll probably have to change the cats also, wouldn't I?
