There go my savings
I had built a set of wooden ramps around a year or so ago, but they were a little too steep of an angle, and I realized my front fang would just barely brush the bottom, so I built some new ones a few weeks ago, and had made these quite a bit longer that my first set.
I picked up some great Black Friday tool bargains, and came back home and was putting everything away, and had slid my wooden ramps out of the way. As I was putting away my newly acquired goodies, I heard something fall. When I turned around, leaning across my driver's side front fender was one of the wooden ramps. No!!! I check out the hood, and it's perfect. Not a scratch. Whew!! I check out the bend on the front fender, and it's perfect. I think it's a miracle. I can't find any damage, not even hazing on the clear coat. Then, I approach the car from the back, and I can just barely detect where the wood edge pressed into the side of the front fender. Thankfully, it is not that bad. It could have been a lot worse. It looks like we have a really good painless dent removal place here, and I think they will have this corrected in a matter of minutes. It's a very soft and shallow indention, no hard edge creases, no dents in the metal where it already has hard angles. But this repair will probably kills any savings from Black Friday. Anyone ever use painless dent removal? Salty

I've used PDR many at times on my Z, and each time it was always the front fenders. For some reason they dent really easily. I think first 2 dents were just from leaning against the car (and I'm under 160lbs).
Good luck with the repair, though I'm sure it'll work out. |

Paintless dent removal is really a remarkable skill. I've had it done on my wife's Infiniti because of hail damage and on my Z4 because of an errant golf ball. In both instances one would never know there had been a dent. They do need access to the back side of the dent to perform their magic...that can make it more of a challenge if the pathway has obstructions. The good techs are true artisans. Watching them in action, you'll be amazed at their skill.

Not to fear Salty my man. Mistakes happen, but God gifts some men with talent unexplained. Below is a link to my thread about my 300,000-mile E90 taking a deer hit and the resultant PDR repair. The guy I found is in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, but he knows everyone in PDR industry since he writes in their professional journal and tests new PDR tools. You could call him and ask him for a local PDR shop in your location. IMO PDR guys are magicians who practice in a black art that they surely sold their souls to become expert in.
If PDR fixed my E90, I'm sure your situation will be a piece of cake. Good luck with it. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1250584

"Painless" dent removal. LOL, I like it! Hopefully it works out to be just that for you.
Quite a few years ago I was a truck mechanic. I was fixing up a Mini Cooper as well, driving it as I did repairs and bodywork. One day I was backing a semi tractor into a parking spot and suddenly the rear end started going up at a weird angle. I looked out the window and there was my Mini's driver's side fender holding up the rear dualies. I about died right on the spot. Learned a lot about body hammers that year. |

Sorry to hear. PDR for sure - bonus is that it usually costs > $150. GL!

This past summer I made the mistake of parking my 1 year old Mazda 3 under an oak tree during a windy day. The next morning I come out and I had 7 acorn size dents in my roof and hood. I too will be doing PDR after winter is over.

Agreed; PDL removed an indentation on the top of the LF fender; perhaps an elbow while accessing the engine bay from the previous original owner - the repair was absolutely seamless.
My daughter's 06 Civic had a massive dent on the C pillar and PDR removed ALL of it.

My kid can drive soon. If he ever dents my car, both the car and his backside will need a PDR.

Good thing it didn't fall on you! Then you would be looking for painless dent removal.
I used pointless dent removal on my Daughter's car. Every time I'd get a dent fixed she'd get another one.

Well, good news. I sent a couple of pics to the guy that is considered one of the best in this area, and he said looked like $125 to him, and he makes house calls. I'll take that! These are really minor. In fact, without the benefit of movement so you can see the distortion in the reflection, it's hard to even get it to show up in a still shot. Should be back to 100% this week.

Just an update here to thank everyone for their input. Those guys really are magicians. The area where I had my little impression was directly over where the bracing runs under the sheet metal, so it was a trickier job, but an hour later, and it was like the rascal rolled back time. It looked perfect. Maybe I'll learn to do that when I retire. Looked fun. :-)
