Feedback on Mileage?

jpass12, now that you've had the exhaust on for a while, have you seen any difference in the gas mileage, tone, or loudness? I've got a 07 coupe as a daily driver and this seems like a great mod if I can live with the increase in the sound. Thanks

It's a little louder! I don't know about the gas mileage, I haven't checked.

I grew up on a farm in southern Illinois....

We only live in this particular part of LA because its a good geographic location for mine and the wife's commute. beyond that... Brentwood kind of sucks (for obvious reasons).

Feyd did you ever install your exhaust system? If so what are your impressions? Thanks

I'd like to hear that setup as well. I went to a shop and we put the car on a lift. After measuring some things, the guy said there wasn't much he could do, except for a specialty setup, like Borla, or something expensive...

What does the resonator do anyway? Is it like a stage one muffler?

Would like to get some more information about this. Can someone describe how it sounds? Lose in performance or increase? Video's would be nice.

Thinking about doing this next week.

Thanks

Hey all...

for some reason (two years later) I guess I'm still subscribed to this thread... haha.

For those of you who want to try this, I couldn't get the components to fit under the car. I had a 2003 2.5i so maybe that was the issue, but when I was looking under the car at the muffler shop it didn't look like there was enough space, so I abandoned the project.

As a matter of fact, I still have them in my garage, so if anyone is interested in them (muffler + two tips) I'll sell them to you cheap.

I ended up getting the Stebro axel-back exhaust and I loved the way it sounded. In a Z4 you are essentially sitting on the muffler, so it's about as loud as you'd think it'd be. That coupled with the soft top it can get pretty loud. If you want to be noticed, it is definitely going to get you there.

However, if you are looking for a system that you can cruise long distances with, it might not be what you want.

I can only imagine that the muffler delete (from the original post) would be louder since you are removing the muffler + the resonator, whereas the stebro you are just replacing the rear muffler.

It's a personal choice how loud you want it.

Here are a couple videos of the Stebro (no my car).

Hi,

I went to the muffler shop today to replace the resonator with the magnaflow and then straight pipes. They asked 600dollar plus tax. This is to expensive so i might go for the stebro and be sure i get a good sound.

Any idea where to buy the stebro in the us?

Thanks

I got my Stebro on ebay... they had it listed at 600, but I offered 450 and they took it.

They don't seem to have any currently available on ebay, but they might have a few in inventory. Look up ebay user:

tanautoparts

I'd just shoot them an email and see what they can do for you.

Good luck.

Sadly no... some asshat pulled out in front of my wife a couple years back and totaled it.

Luckily she was uninjured...

I also took the opportunity to "upgrade" to a new 135 and I don't regret that decision at all. About a year later we ended up moving back to Illinois (from LA) and the convertible really wouldn't have been a solid option because of the weather out here.

The Z4 was a really fun car though while it lasted. I miss it sometimes.

Do you have any more pictures of your car with those wheels? How were they in terms of quality/durability?

I'm thinking about picking up a set for the track, so would appreciate any feedback!
